DD housemate tested positive

As above. DD's housemate been away from home staying with family and has now tested positive while away. She can stay there but doesn't want to do wants to come back home where she shares with 5 others meaning they will all now need to self isolate. None of the housemates are happy about this although they can't really stop her coming back to her home. I think she's being a bit selfish. Am I?

Fwiw, DD is 23 and quite able to speak for herself but on this occasion even though the others are involved as well, it's falling on deaf ears.

Stepmum has messaged back. Housemate is staying put at her DM and was welcome anyway so no idea why she felt it was a good idea to leave and go back. DD is relieved as she didn't want to put upon her BF and his parents for 10 days. Housemate has sent a really passive aggressive message saying she will stay where she is so she doesn't affect their lives, and that she feels ok, thanks for asking. DD is fuming.

Thank goodness. And well done for stepping in.

Sparklfairy · 09/08/2021 15:57

Good that shes staying put, but if she's already being arsey with DD and the other housemates she may orchestrate a row with her family so she has an excuse to flounce home.

I wouldn't normally suggest this, but could the housemates lock the doors and leave the key in the lock so she can't get in. Its not like she is going to call the police and complain and drop herself in it...

AbsolutelyPatsy · 09/08/2021 15:58

dont suggest locking her out,
they do have to have a relationship when she comes back
my dd moved into her new house and one by one they all succumbed.
they need to be kind but sensible.

I'm not sure why 'being kind' comes above personal health and disruption caused by one out of six houesmates not being kind.

I'm only advocating this if she surprises them by trying to sneak in with no pre-warning. Effectively forcing anyone in the house when she arrives to isolate immediately with no notice to make other arrangements.

By locking her out it buys them time to go elsewhere and not have to isolate I mean, sorry, didn't fully explain!

They do all need to still get along when she comes back after isolation, but I think this has definitely burnt a few bridges. DD and housemate were meant to be finding a flat together but I suspect this might have put paid to that now. Housemates self awareness seems to have deserted her sadly.

Covid certainly brings out the selfishness in others doesn’t it?

Iusedtoliveinsanfrancisco · 09/08/2021 16:31

Good result tho

aiwblam · 09/08/2021 16:40

People like this nasty girl are the reason Covid keeps spreading and killing.

I rolled my eyes so hard at this one. I’m surprised your dd’s are still in her head. What a manipulative, drama laden sentence.

Porcupineintherough · 09/08/2021 23:15

@PotteringAlong

So SH is ill. Her parents don’t want her and her housemates don’t want her.

I can see why her housemates are annoyed but I feel really sorry for her.

^^This.

Ok I'd missed the last page, scrap that.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 10/08/2021 11:53

Glad house mate is now staying put. I’d definitely be looking to move if I was your DD.
