I've had this for two weeks now and im at my wits end. I cant cope with it anymore.

All my other symptoms are gone other than fatigue and some breathlessness.

I cant cope anymore with this pain. I cant get an appointment at my GP and it feels dramatic to go to A&E with a sore face 😳 I dont know what else to do i am in agony and cant get any relief.

You don’t say where you live but I would phone 111 and ask for advice.

Burtknowsbest · 25/07/2021 16:16

Sounds like sinusitis.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/07/2021 16:17

Are you sure it isn't sinus pain? It can be excruciating.

Do usually get migraine and have you tried specific abortive medication like triptans?

Porcupineintherough · 25/07/2021 16:56

Try the out of hours gp. I find it actually easier to be seen by them than by my own gp.

ThePontiacBandit · 25/07/2021 17:03

Is the pain one-sided? It’s unusual for a migraine to last this long and yes you should seek medical attention. Can you try and get an OOH appointment if A&E feels extreme?

mayaknew · 25/07/2021 17:05

I called 111 there. Someone from the covid assessment unit are going to call me back within the next 4 hours.

I really feel terrible. I cant cope with this pain anymore

Boots own decongestant s and use method crystals to steam - very helpful

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 25/07/2021 17:22

Just a thought - how are your teeth? When I had bad sinuses on one side + migraine/eye pain, it was a dental issue and I needed root canal. Might be worth checking in with your dentist.

harverina · 25/07/2021 17:26

I’ve had awful face pain and tension headaches in the past. It might be work while trying a decongestant or painkiller specifically for tension headaches while you wait. Massage also helps me too.

GameofPhones · 25/07/2021 17:29

I had this long-lasting severe facial pain, it turned out to be shingles. I now have a stack of meds from my GP, which cut out the pain. I hope you get some relief soon.

Aquamarine1029 · 25/07/2021 17:31

It sounds like sinusitis. I had a bout of this a few months ago and it was agony. You may need antibiotics, and I highly recommend using a neti pot with distilled water and a saline packet.

RandomMess · 25/07/2021 17:36

Sinusitis is horrific Thanks

chellingham · 25/07/2021 17:42

Have you tried sitting under a hot shower for 15 minutes to relieve the sinus pain? It really works for me

Cornettoninja · 25/07/2021 17:46

Hang on for your assessment but please don’t try and play down the pain, some people have a tendency to minimise they’re symptoms because they’re worried about not being taken seriously when they really need to be impressing how much pain they’re actually in.

It sounds awful and I hope you get some pain relief soon. If they suggest another assessment (dental for example) don’t let them off the phone without addressing how you can access pain relief until that’s possible.

mayaknew · 25/07/2021 18:09

Thanks so much thats all good advice.

If I'm honest, I really think it's related to covid. I know I said all my order symptoms have gone but really that was only a cough.

I have such bad fatigue I have no energy I have hardly moved out of bed for for two weeks, and that was only to shower, sitting down, twice 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I think I may have down played my covid symptoms in my OP.

I dont know what the assessment unit will say when they phone, but I really think I need to be seen.

DS had really bad sinus pain and sinus headache with COVID (twice). He found the sudafed nasal spray gave him relief, with anti inflammatory painkillers (aspirin or ibuprofen) and steam. It didn't last for 2 weeks though.

TrampolineForMrKite · 25/07/2021 18:35

You have my sympathy. Have you tried Sudafed Pressure and Pain? But it maybe be that this is an issue only prescription drugs can solve, maybe antibiotics and something else whilst you’re in pain. Phone 111, they may wel be able to get you prescribed something over the phone. Feel better.

RainBow725 · 25/07/2021 18:47

Try this - wet a flannel and put it in the microwave for 10 seconds or so until hot (be careful not too hot though). Place over your face until it cools down. Keep repeating. Also drink lots of fluids.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 25/07/2021 18:52

When my sinus pain is bad here’s my go to…
Neilmed nasal douche ( Amazon for quick delivery)
Nasonex steroid spray
Regular ibuprofen alternated with cocodamol
Heated wheat pack to sinus

Hope you get some answers from assessment unit Flowers

mayaknew · 25/07/2021 20:26

Still waiting on them calling me back. If they have nothing really helpful to offer I am actually now considering taking myself down to A&E tonight. Im so miserable

harverina · 25/07/2021 21:41

What a shame you’ve waited so long. Not good at all.

If they haven’t called by now I would try 111 again or head to a&e as your 4 hours are over.

Icantstopeatinglol · 25/07/2021 21:46

How long is it since you tested positive op? I’m on day 12 and the only thing left is sinus pain and swollen glands in throat. I still feel awful but nowhere near like i did. I was same as you, didn’t move from my bed for nearly a week! Hope they give you some answers. I keep getting an awful burning sensation in my sinuses like someone’s lit a match up there! Never had it before and I have ongoing issues with my sinuses.

15 days since symptoms started.

Yes I know what you mean about burning!

Let me know what they say op. Hopefully they might say that it’s the sign of the end of the symptoms! Grin
