I've had this for two weeks now and im at my wits end. I cant cope with it anymore.

All my other symptoms are gone other than fatigue and some breathlessness.

I cant cope anymore with this pain. I cant get an appointment at my GP and it feels dramatic to go to A&E with a sore face 😳 I dont know what else to do i am in agony and cant get any relief.

They just called there. Said there's nothing they can do for me just take paracetamol😭

Try night nurse for night (knocks you out if nothing else)
Daytime - use paracetamol, ibuprofen plus either pseudoephedrine tablets (ie. proper sudafed from pharmacy not the crap phenylephrine you get from the supermarket) or a decongestant spray like sinex/otrivine

Whilst recovering from Covid I was left with ear pain and a constant feeling of liquid in my ear. (I could actually hear and feel it sloshing about inside my head).

I phoned my GP and was prescribed antibiotics after a telephone consultation. It's possible for Covid to cause a secondary infection and I'm pretty sure that it caused an ear infection for me. A week of antibiotics did sort it out.

I'm thinking that perhaps you have been left with a sinus infection. The level of pain you are in after having mostly recovered from the other symptoms isn't right at all.

I hope you feel better soon.

Spacecadetagain · 26/07/2021 12:04

It sounds like a sinus infection to me and they are agony . I had covid last year and was left with constant sinus trouble. I had three lots of anti biotics during my recovery time . I hope you feel better soon x

Cornettoninja · 26/07/2021 12:34

That’s so shit @mayaknew. I agree with speaking to your GP and seeing if they’ll prescribe antibiotics to see if they help. It’s almost impossible for anyone to definitively say there’s no underlying infection.

Bobholll · 26/07/2021 12:57

It sounds like sinus pain, which can def be covid related. Here’s my sinusitis checklist (I’m had multiple infections over the last few years):

*Nasal rinse- you can buy this in Boots (or Amazon). It’s very weird, you basically force water in one nostril until it comes out the other. It’s not my fav but it REALLY helps!
*Heyfever nasal spray - it’s a low dose steroid and helps open up the sinuses. I’ve been prescribed this every infection but told to just buy it over the counter as it’s much cheaper!
*Steam your face - put boiling water in a bowel, could add some vicks. Put a towel over you head and breath the steam!
*Sudofed Sinusitis Painkillers
*Neurofen

I called my own gp this morning waiting on her calling me back.

The ooh dr last night mentioned a nasal spray but she said because my nose isn't actually blocked/running it won't help😭

Oh I get the worst sinus infections I really feel for you. Have you tried doing a salt water sniff? - if your nose is blocked try sitting in the steamy bathroom until you can get sick some air through it, then make a salt water mixture, quite warm but not too hot, snort it up your nose and (gross) release through your mouth. It will relieve some of the pressure temporarily. Also lots of rest, lots of fluids, sip warm drinks, Googling some acupressure point for sinuses to help them drain.

It really is awful but there isn’t a lot they can do for it! Flowers

Given how distressed and uncomfortable you are I think you should push to at least try it Flowers

I don't get a blocked nose with sinus pain but when I start steaming my nose really starts streaming.

I use a steam mug with some olbas oil in it x3 a day for weeks on end when it's bad, it really helps alongside the spray.

Got covid before first lockdown (NHS) which turned into long covid. This has been the longest surviving symptom. Even now after a day at work or busy day this symptom will reoccur. Normally I would take paracetamol for a headache but through trial an error realised it is a symptom caused by inflammation and only anti-inflammatories help. Keep trying ibruphren and rest as much as possible.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 26/07/2021 13:24

I had the same and drinking hot squash and having a wheat bag on my face really helped. Really hope you feel better soon op.

courtney251 · 03/08/2021 17:10

@mayaknew hey! How are you feeling now? I'm currently on day 12 since testing positive for corona. Migraine and sinuses feel blocked. Nurofen isn't taking the pain away at all. Please tell me you started feeling better?

courtney251 · 04/08/2021 06:44

??

mayaknew · 04/08/2021 10:30

Yeah I am getting better, slowly but still.

I dont have that pressure feeling anymore but I do still get what feels like a tension headache migraine type thing every day

I saw GP last week but wasn't very helpful. Basically just said I have to suffer it and wait til it goes on its own😭

Concur with the vicks idea.

Fill a bowl with boiling water, put some vicks in, then enclose your head with a towel to make a tent. Sniff deeply. Works a treat!

Sinusitis is very painful - it can feel like terrible toothache. In the war fil went to the dentist with toothache, and the dentist removed all his teeth . Still suffering and now in the Navy, fil went to the naval dentist who had a fit and said that fil had sinusitus and the other dentist had extracted all his teeth completely unnecessarily. So fil had a set of false teeth from the age of 17 !!

Hairwizard · 04/08/2021 15:50

Sounds like sinusitis. I get a really sore face and upper teeth feel sore.

Defo steam with vicks
Pain relief
Anti inflammatory

Might need an anti b from gp. Are you finding you are clearing your throat alot? What colour is nasal fluid?

courtney251 · 04/08/2021 16:10

I spoke to the doctors and they've agreed it sounds like sinusitis. She's made an appointment For me for Friday. I've taken strong painkillers but what else can I do. I can't even lean forward so much pressure on my eyes and nose.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/08/2021 16:17

Push for antibiotics, they say they don't give them but they do of you spell out how bad it is and ime it helps.

Steam, steam, steam and use a nasal spray and steam some more.
