Has anyone ever BEEN on your period when having the vaccine?

My period started today and I'm also getting my second jab. I just wondered if it will likely be effected? I get so hormonal leading up to my period, it's often a big release for me when it comes (I have pcos!) so I very much hope it's not effected today 😬😬😬

Yes, it stopped the day after!

HairyFloppins · 24/07/2021 08:31

Yes and no it didn't effect it.

FlatStanletta · 24/07/2021 08:31

I was for my first jab OP. Think I was on day 3 of my period. It made no discernible difference whatsoever. I had Pfizer. Also had no side effects apart from a bit of a sore arm.

citycitycity · 24/07/2021 08:31

Yes, it stopped the same day as the jab

Summernamechange2021 · 24/07/2021 08:32

I was for my first pfizer and found no differnece.

november90 · 24/07/2021 08:36

Ahhh so it's very hit and miss! I hope mine doesn't stop as I don't want to have to wait another 6 weeks for another one 😬😰

I was approaching my period for the first (not on it) and it got delayed by a week. I was on my period during the second and it was heavier than normal. I should point out I have an autoimmune condition and when I reported via yellow card I received a reply from a specialist asking for more info - they decided it was normal as I already have a high immune response.

Yes. And I’m also hormonal, was fine

november90 · 24/07/2021 08:56

Thank you both! I suppose it is what it is, I will just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best!

Jab 1 - I was due to start my period the next day and I did.

Jab 2 - I had just finished my period and the next one has now started right on schedule.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 24/07/2021 08:58

I also have PCOS among other things

Wanttocry · 24/07/2021 08:59

Yep, started my period on the Wednesday, had my jab on the Friday. That cycle (and the one after that) were totally normal. I’m having my second one today and my period is due tomorrow.

skylarkdescending · 24/07/2021 09:07

After the first one my period was delayed by a week. I had to take a pregnancy test!

Second one I was on day 3 and had very heavy but shorter than usual period. Strangely, A week on and I feel like my body is gearing up for another one - same hormonal changes I normally have just before I'm due on. Hoping not as I go away next week!

Jerkface1 · 24/07/2021 09:10

I also have pcos

First Pfizer I started my period on the same day, didn't affect it

Second time it started a few days after second jab and it was way heavier than usual

mangomama91 · 24/07/2021 09:18

I came on the day of my first jab which was 5 weeks ago now and had a normal period, and came on again 4 weeks after as usual. So for me it didn't so anything to my periods

november90 · 24/07/2021 09:38

Thank you! Sorry to hear those that were effected but equally relieved to hear some positive stories too :)
It's a pain in the bum having such long cycles!

TheTallOakTrees · 24/07/2021 09:41

I wasn't on mine when I had the jab done. But I didn't get my period for 3 months after my second jab. I too have PCOS. Strangely enough though it was actually much lighter than usual because post miscarriages they got heavier and heavier. Pity the cramps weren't lighter too ha ha
WarriorN · 24/07/2021 10:36

Yes, I do think it made me more tired for longer as a result. The first one I also had loads of headaches for a few weeks. The second only a week and was able to nap when I needed to.

Both were uniquely timed for the first day of periods, 8 weeks apart (so clearly didn't affect length Grin I'm v rarely bang on 28 days!)

Definitely take it easy this week and sleep as much as possible.

WarriorN · 24/07/2021 10:39

I think the second and third periods after the first jab, (so on my third I had the second jab) were heavier, third also painful (never usually.) Just had the 4th and it's absolutely back to normal.

Onynx · 24/07/2021 10:56

Had my first Pfizer on day 3 of mine and it stopped dead- still had all the cramps etc though😏

Woodandsky · 24/07/2021 11:05

Yep for both of mine (Astra Zeneca) and it had no effect as far as I could tell, and I have horrible heavy periods.

Bobholll · 24/07/2021 11:08

Yep, no affect on that period at all. I think last months was heavier though, I have pretty heavy periods anyway so hard to say but it felt a bit worse than usual!

starfish4 · 24/07/2021 11:09

DD literally started her period a couple of hours before vaccine. She came out struggling as period pains had kicked in, but otherwise it was the same as usual.

Makhiaman · 24/07/2021 11:12

I came on my period a day later and bled for over a month on and off very heavily. I’ve been regular all my life so the only thing I can think that affected it is the vaccine, my dr said that was a ridiculous idea though Hmm
