Arm is agony after vaccine

I get B12 jabs in the muscle and get a sore arm but this pain after covid vaccine is insane. It's agony to move and even throbs just generally going about life even with my other arm. It is so so painful. Is this normal? When will it stop

When did you have your jab? My arm was incredibly painful after my first, and the pain just got worse as time went by. I couldn't sleep on my left side, and if I turned over I couldn't bear the weight of the duvet on it.
At week 5, I couldn't dress without crying, and rang my GP.
He said I'd been really unlucky, and thought it may have knicked a nerve. He prescribed Phorpain, a strong ibuprofen gel and a few days with that and I was fine.
I had no redness, bruising or swelling.
When I had my 2nd, I'd had hand surgery and my right hand was in plaster so I asked for it in that arm, as I didn't want 2 useless arms, had very mild pain which lasted about 3 days.

After my 2nd jab my arm was fine.

My nephew had a very painful arm after his first dose of Pfizer, it even woke him in the night. It didn't last for long but was bad while it did. He was OK after second, just a bit of an ache.

I had no pain in arm after my first dose (AstraZeneca but I don't think type of vaccine is relevant), in fact wouldn't even have been able to find the exact spot. I did have some other reactive symptoms but they passed.

You can end up with shoulder vaccine problems. I had similar and it was suggested mine was down to the way the injection was given.

I used ibuprofen but ended up having to see an osteopath which made a massive difference. It’s almost resolved completely but I had my second vaccine in April.

I had excruciating pain after first and second jabs in my arm, OP. After day 3 I could lie on it again both times. X

I had moderna

I had Moderna and my arm was incredibly sore afterwards. I couldn’t even move my arm.

Time was the only thing that helped but it still sometimes gets sore 2 months on.

Awful that some people are still sore months down the line. Worrying if yearly boosters become the thing and we end up spending a large chunk of every year in pain

Awful pain with the first and nothing the second. My DH was the opposite. Weirdly though my DSM has a nerve/pain condition and is always in pain and it was fine. No extra pain...nothing. My Gran felt nothing at all. I think it seems to be luck!

Have you taken some painkillers?

Its not usual but it does happen to some people. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I had muscle pain in my arm within seconds of my first AZ dose. It tracked down into my fingers over a period of a week. I thought my pain threshold was pretty high but it was really tender and painful. It woke me during the night and got progressively worse. Advice was to give it time. After two weeks I couldn't move a couple of my fingers which meant I couldn't work (hairdresser/teacher). GP wasn't concerned at all. After around a month it wore off and I was back to normal. Second dose, not after effects at all.

Sounds as if you have SIRVA, Shoulder injury relating to vaccine administration and you can yellow card it. Often results when the vaccine is administered too high on the arm. Not surprising really when you think about all the unqualified staff drafted in to administer the injections during the pandemic. I suffered from this for several week and the pain was agonising.
If you google it you will discover it has effected hundreds of people, yet it is rarely talked about.

Mine was really sore for a week after my first AZ but fine after the second. Take some basic pain killers.

My first Moderna was really painful in the day or two following - couldn't lift it above 90 degrees, so I couldn't get things out of high cupboards! Avoided sleeping on it, tried to keep DS away from it.

Second one was less painful, but got the reddening rash, which lasted about three days. But significantly less sore than the first time.

My right arm ached on and off for many months - more than a year - after my pneumonia jab, and subsequently at times when I was ill or run down. It also ached after my first Covid jab, in fact more than the jabbed (left) arm did. I asked to have the second Covid jab in the left arm as well and it hardly hurt at all afterwards.
No one has been able to explain the reason for the continued long term effects. But at least I’m unlikely to get pneumonia.

I felt like I'd been stung by a bee when I had my Pfizer vaccination. I even woke up with the pain! It subsided within 24 hours.

36 hours of terrible pain after my first Pfizer and no pain after my second. I’ve been told by a very experienced (read: old) nurse it’s how it’s administered rather than what is administered. Too slow putting the needle into the arm then release the vaccine too fast I think? I could have that the wrong way around! This nurse had extensive training on how to administer injections 50 years ago that is apparently not done so much now. An experienced nurse may be better placed to confirm that though.

I keep being sick now too and have a horrific headache

This worries me. If its that bad i wouldnt be able to get in and out of the bath or wash and rinse my hair. What the fuck about hygiene FFS
