Being made to wear masks.

For some reason, I can't really explain why, I just hate wearing masks. I absolutely HATE them. Aside from this, I have willingly followed all the rules and I worked in a key role throughout all the pandemic. Not NHS, more supply chain. I have to wear a mask all day at work and I hate it.

Anyway, I have been out of England for the past 2 weeks and was looking forward to ditching the mask. Except, I can't. Whilst I was away it turns out our town council did a survey and they are encouraging everyone to still wear masks. So, I went to the shops today and everywhere I went I had to wear a mask. I went to the supermarket too and every single person had one on, so I had to follow suit or probably get an earful.

I feel so gutted. I totally respect anyone's right to wear a mask, but they are no longer enforced by law and I shouldn't have to wear one if I don't want to. If we have to wear one now, then when exactly is this going to stop?

I have not once taken a supermarket slot during the pandemic and left it for others more in need. I just now feel f^ck it. I will buy everything online and get it delivered if I have to continue wearing a mask everywhere I go. Also, what is the point of me getting double vaccinated if I have to carry on wearing this on my face in 30 degree heat.

@Baluchistan95

Encouraging someone to wear a mask is not the same as making someone wear a mask. Personally, I have never worn a mask and have no intention of doing so in the future. Nipped into my local Asda today and was shocked at just how many people were still wearing them. Crazy!!

Yeah so strange Confused

Numbers are currently enormous. More than 40 year 12s in my daughter's year now have Covid. 7 and counting now have it in the year 6 class. Parents are also catching it from their children. Some are symptom free, others are really very ill. I'm doing whatever I can to avoid Covid right now - it is everywhere!

Blessex · 22/07/2021 21:47

Stop wearing it. People are sheep. Others will eventually follow.

Remmy123 · 22/07/2021 21:47

Lots of people are wearing them where I live but I am not. Just don't wear it.

TinaYouFatLard · 22/07/2021 21:53

By bowing down to societal pressure you are contributing to the idea that we must continue wearing the stupid ineffectual things.

I find a big smile at people is the best tactic.

Runmybathforme · 22/07/2021 21:53

I have to wear a mask all day at work and I hate it, particularly this week when it’s been hard to breathe in the heat, but, it protects others from the virus so I will continue to wear one. You don’t have to.

herecomesthsun · 22/07/2021 21:53

just do it - think of other people for a change

Porcupineintherough · 22/07/2021 21:53

@SnarkyBag

Don’t wear one anymore then you can stop whining
^^This. It's not your business what other people chose to do.
PopcornMuncher · 22/07/2021 21:57

If you have such an issue don't bloody wear one. But know that you're doing the wrong thing, unless you've a decent reason/exemption.

Newsflash. OP doesn't need a reason or exemption not to wear one. It being wrong is only an opinion, not fact.

it depends whether you think potentially spreading infection in a pandemic is wrong
WouldBeGood · 22/07/2021 22:03

It depends if you think wearing a snotty bit of sweaty cloth is going to help

Legally they don't need a reason yes, this is not a newsflash.

Yes it is an opinion, but not all opinions are equal. Plenty of opinions are stupid.

Not wearing a mask is wrong, unless you can't.

Yes wearing a mask reduces the spread somewhat. It is so boring having to repeat the same things over and over.
WouldBeGood · 22/07/2021 22:09

On that I do agree @lannistunut. It’s inane.

Do what you like and spread what you like but nothing illegal like this Covidiot:

Bus driver punched in head after telling passenger to wear mask

@herecomesthsun I really wish the zealots would.

If you want to wear a mask, great. But the preaching is so so boring. Leave people alone

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 22/07/2021 22:16

I understand. I don’t want to wear one. Hate it. But then I’m crap and bow down to social pressure to have done again. Annoyingly

Finknottlesnewt · 22/07/2021 22:26

Are people really this fucking thick ?

Do you not yet understand that mask wearing Isn't FOR YOU ???

The fact that you go somewhere wearing a mask, is NOT going to stop you getting Covid . (Or the very worrying surge of RSV infection in babies and young children) .. You would have caught it off the selfish fucker who wasn't wearing a mask 'because they don't like them' .

Masks stop YOU giving it to others
NOT you GETTING it from others unless you have got some kind of high grade filtration mask as used in a hospital ICU..

Think of who you could be infecting an wear a bloody mask and stop whinging.

Pot, kettle.

Anti-mask zealots are just as zealous and boring.

The only difference is they are wrong.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 22/07/2021 22:31

Honestly? Who gives a shit?

Some people will judge you if you do, others if you don't.

Stop wussing around with "the council said .. I don't want to get moaned at, etc"

If you have a preference then stick by it and let others do as they will.

I'll carry in with mine, I feel it's only fair when I enter someone else's work space.

You can do as you will...

You wouldn't have been prevented from entering a supermarket or shop when they were mandatory so your even less likely to be refused entry now. Do whatever is best for you and give zero fucks about what others think.
