My ds will be 18 in a few weeks and our local vaccine centre is often last few days saying they have spare vaccines, if he goes will they give him one or does he have to actually wait until he turns 18 in a couple weeks ?

@NotDonna

So our almost 18’s can get jabbed. Yeah! Do you know if there needs to be a gap between Pfizer jab and flu jab and what this should be? My eldest should get her 2nd Pfizer jab mid September (if there’s an 8 week gap between 1st & 2nd as per English guidelines). Can she have the flu jab in between? I’ve googled but it’s not clear as Pfizer say 21 days between 1st & 2nd dose so therefore suggest a gap of at least 14 days after 2nd Pfizer before having flu jab. Some sites say 7 days. But U.K. isn’t following Pfizer 21 day gap so I’m a bit unsure. I appreciate that the gap is all about recognising side effects etc rather than any interactions being an issue. Any definite info anywhere else please?
They ask if you have had any other vaccinations within 7 days when you book online and as part of consent so assume that's the limit?

Thank you!! That’s really helpful.

@worriedatthemoment I thought the NHS booking system would be working by now but it’s still a no unless over 18. Our 3 local (ish) walk-in centres are suddenly, as from today, not offering Pfizer. One is AZ only and the other two have completely disappeared from the nhs list. Yesterday their opening times were listed as 7 days a week 8am to 8pm. No idea where they’ve gone.

Supply issue?

worriedatthemoment · 20/07/2021 23:47

@NotDonna ours seems to have supply but i asked them today and they said not until turns 18 , as it happens ds 2 came down with a cough today so all isolating has had him tested.

It wasn’t advertised or anything. All the others on the walk in list stipulated 18+ and Sandown didn’t so it was worth a try. A doctor needed to sign the form there but it took minutes. If you’re really keen maybe look online for your walk in centres and see if any don’t stipulate over 18’s.

My youngest is 18 in 2 weeks and we've not been able to book yet. I've been trying for a few days on the online form since I saw the news. I'm going to wait another week and try again

A 16 year old friend got her first Pfizer shot at a walk-in in London last week. She just turned up on the off-chance there were leftovers.
