What reason would people be against hand sanitiser?

I’ve noticed now that there’s a parent of a child in my sons nursery who doesn’t let the teacher use sanitiser.

I also have another friend who refuses to use it when going into shops and won’t let her child wear it.

Does anyone know why you wouldn’t use it?

I do use it but use my own as most Its brutal to my hands. also don't think it is the best to keep smothering yourself in uneccessary chemicals which the skin absorbs when frankly the role of sanitiser in preventing Covid is unproven

I don't use it - I have eczema on my knuckles that flares up like mad - and the stuff reeks in a way that cannot be positive for us to be marinading ourselves in every few minutes. I'd rather use soap and water.

I also expressed the preference to school that, on the occasions the kids have a choice (they HAVE to sanitise going into the building but before dinner etc) that they use soap and water as one of them has bad eczema too.

The smell makes me cough and my eyes water - the effect is like instant severe hayfever. I don't know what the offensive ingredient is, but I've actually had to leave certain shops because of the smell of it.
M&S foodshop public handgel and Oliver Bonas - can't even go in those shops because i react so badly.

I'm not against using hand sanitizer but I am prone to dermatitis on one hand, so if my hand is already broken out I avoid using it as this makes it worse. My hand was ok yesterday until I used hand sanitizer in the supermarket, now it's itching like mad today so I definitely won't be using hand sanitizer until it heals again.
