On the news it's saying advice well be issued for the vulnerable soon. What do you think will be in that advice.

As nether said earlier. It would also help if people stopped telling us to just shield or that we can do what works for our families when they have
haven't given it any thought.

Tealightsandd · 12/07/2021 21:06

At the very least the government should be offering vaccines to CEV over 12s.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 12/07/2021 21:08

Sorry. That was to Katie. I know I'm tetchy but in December we got 'Just shield' over and over when we were worried about schools. Except we couldn't keep dc off without being fined.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 12/07/2021 21:09

Tea yes, and those who live with cev.

Mickarooni · 12/07/2021 21:24

@Katie517

I can think of 3 things off the top of my head;

  1. Employment support especially those in high risk jobs like secondary school teachers.
  2. Vaccines for CEV or CV children who are immune compromised.
  3. Support for home schooling families when this is their only option to protect an immune compromised household member.

I do not think restrictions should be delayed purely for the minority but we are allowed to be anxious that we or our children are at higher risk in 7 days time. Confused

SchrodingersUnicorn · 12/07/2021 21:54

Everything @Mickarooni said. And
4) No fines or being required to deregister children being to keep them off school temporarily when someone in the family is CEV and local rates rise. Online support offered to those pupils.
5) Mandating employers to consider risk assessments for CEV employees as part of the legal requirement for reasonable adjustments. Basic things like ventilation, screens, cleaning, personal space etc that as of next week employers aren't going to have to do.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 12/07/2021 22:06

Yes they are greying and in summary it's "Stay away from other people except if you have to go to work or school or travel on public transport. If you have to do those things, good luck"

Yes, that. What they are saying is take the risk in school, or be completely isolated. Not really a choice.
herecomesthsun · 12/07/2021 22:13

@NuttyinNotts

I wonder if my husband should start living in the garden. It's be the only way he can avoid being indoors with unvaccinated people, given that we have two children. Again there's no thought as to what is practical for people who live with others or have to work outside the home etc etc..
lol. Also have 2 kids.
NotAnotherAlias · 12/07/2021 23:05

Not sure what this means for shielding healthcare workers like me. I’m very worried, especially with the other announcements about stopping isolation for NHS staff following exposure (and obviously all the additional cases were about to have). I guess this means they think it’s fine for me to go into work in a poorly ventilated hospital full of people with just a surgical face mask to keep me safe. I remain unconvinced.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 12/07/2021 23:53

That's very scary for you @NotAnotherAlias. You'd think the NHS would be thoughtful but from what I've heard, it isn't so :(

Sadless · 13/07/2021 16:51

So basically people have to stay away from the unvaccinated but how do people know if they have been or not. I have just had a phone call from sons school bubble shut down teacher assistant tested positive and he attends a special school with alot of vulnerable children in. I don't know if all the teachers have had the vaccination.

@Sadless I don’t get that though as vaccinated people are spreading it too, actually worse in a way as a lot will now have no symptoms 🤦🏼‍♀️.
I have 2 kids at a sen school last week they had to close the whole school due to so many cases and vulnerable children. Makes me anxious when they go back in September. Our Sen kids need the routine and they are already behind this is having such a negative impact.
But who cares them poor adults wearing mask and staying away from strangers and missing out on clubbing. 🙄 #priorities
