Would you have walked out or still got it

If you saw someone come out after getting the Covid jab get a seizure and collapse?
My sister went to get hers and saw that.. I told her I would’ve walked out after seeing that 😬

I would have thought that statistically it would be really unlikely that two people would have seizures in the same centre on the same day and would have felt even safer.
Probably doesn’t add up logically though.

ittakes2 · 12/07/2021 10:06

millions have had uneventful jabs - one person having a seizure which could be unjab related would not have put me off.

NeedNewKnees · 12/07/2021 10:10

Of course I would stay and have my jab. Why on earth wouldn’t I?

Kanaloa · 12/07/2021 10:12

@Melitza

I thought exactly this! What are the chances it would happen twice together?

Elune · 12/07/2021 10:12

I would have got it. I would also have assumed that it most likely wasn't vaccine-related and more likely to be someone with epilepsy or another health condition that was perhaps exacerbated by stress or anxiety. And even if it was vaccine-related, it would be incredibly rare so I wouldn't expect it to happen to me any more than if I hadn't seen it happen.

Kanaloa · 12/07/2021 10:12

Although I know it doesn’t make any sense but I’d just think that.

Dozer · 12/07/2021 10:14

Someone going through that - for unrelated reasons or even because of the vaccine - has no bearing on your benefits or risks as regards the vaccination.

Athinginitself · 12/07/2021 10:17

My sister had a seizure after being vaccinated, a high temp, stress or even a cold triggers seizures as she is epileptic. She had her 2nd jab too. I wouldn't have thought anything of it.

I'd have been aware that very few (microscopically small number) people have an adverse reaction, that a seizure so soon after the jab is unlikely to be related to it, and I certainly wouldn't be so fucking stupid as to come on a public messaged board with an anti-vax post.
VettiyaIruken · 12/07/2021 10:22

I would have still got it.

The seizure may be unrelated, the person may have epilepsy.

Even if it was related, everyone knows there are side effects and some are very serious but extremely rare. By going for the vaccine you have already accepted that there is risk and concluded that the benefit outweighs the risk. The risk is not increased because you saw someone have a seizure which may or may not even be related.

Goodness me, OP. I see no swearing, anger or defensiveness.

I think you need an urgent trip to Barnard Castle - your eyes are telling you great big porkies.
Either that or you're pissed off your goadiness is not landing anywhere fertile?

It’s a question, answer or go away.[/quote]
The poster did answer. The poster gave an example of why it is silly to walk out by using another setting. You didn't like the answer because it wasn't the one you wanted. Why do people do this on MN?

People do have seizures all the time though. It may or many not be relevant to the vaccine. People with anxieties do tend to look for any reason to back up their anxiety though and pretty much anything seems to make some people more anxious.

MrsMiddleMother · 12/07/2021 10:38

I still would have got my vaccine.

TheTallOakTrees · 12/07/2021 10:39

But then you are anxious or looking for reasons to either walk out or spread any anti vax stories - who knows the motive.

Most people are more level headed though. Millions and millions have been vaccinated around the world. I would personally put it down to someone suffering from epilepsy and they may have lots of seizures all the time? I wouldn't do a 1 + 1 = 5 leap. I hope that helps you?

VettiyaIruken · 12/07/2021 10:39

Defensive?
Where?
Do you mean people answering your question are defensive if they say yes they would still get it and why?
You asked the question. People answered. What's the problem?

anon12345678901 · 12/07/2021 10:42

I would have got it done, no question. There could be many reasons for someone having a seizure, which have nothing to do with the vaccine. I'm guessing you posted this because you thought a majority would agree with you and say it makes the vaccine look unsafe...

Dozer · 12/07/2021 12:08

Your comment to your sister was U.

psychomath · 12/07/2021 12:33

I wouldn't have walked out, for the same reason I wouldn't refuse to get on a plane because the the same flight crashed the previous day. Rare unfortunate events do happen, but having a slightly closer connection to one doesn't put you at any more risk than if you'd been at a different vaccination centre and had no idea this had happened.

AwakeNotAsleep · 12/07/2021 12:35

@Stripeyduvets

I fainted after getting the rubella vaccination.

It doesn’t mean the vaccine isn’t safe.
