No masks in Euro final?

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 11/07/2021 21:26

I must say I have not been watching too much news recently. Did the fans have to show proof of a negative test before being allowed in? Most don't have masks on, or is it not a rule now for crowds not to have to wear them?

Aren’t LFT tests self-reporting? You just log the result with the serial number on the test, no photo of result or anything?

LaurieFairyCake · 11/07/2021 22:18

Lol at 'schooling being a priority'

Obviously ALL the schools are closed (if your Johnson) as all the independant schools are finished now

So it makes even more sense to have these mass events as all the posh kids are in Provence, outside where it's safe Hmm

God he's such a massive fucking nob head

Sunnysausage · 11/07/2021 22:45

Well I certainly missed the memo about follow up tests as I would have made sure my DS did them after the semi-final (my friend booked the tickets but I think he would have mentioned it if they’d recommended tests after the match). In any case, when we reported the result of the original LF, there was nowhere to log that you were doing it for a test event at all, let alone which one. So how would tests afterwards help build a complete picture? The whole thing seems to be a complete piss take.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 11/07/2021 22:46

@TheUnquestionedAnswer

I'm still not going to pubs, gigs or anything public, despite what the gov want.
Good for you 👍👏🙌

Keep at it and we'll do what we want

TitsInAbsentia · 11/07/2021 22:49

@littlepeas

It is stupidly easy to fake a negative lft - it makes me laugh when places insist on self reported lft before things, as you don’t even need to do the test to register it as negative! They are pointless unless someone watches it being taken.
This all day long. You just put the code in to the website, you don't even have to take a photo of the test. So pointless.
CantGetNoSleep73 · 11/07/2021 23:00

I suspect there may be some trouble after and the hospitals will be rammed with drunks etc 😞

Yep! It's a joke to suggest that a negative lft is adequate proof.

Ok suit yourself but I and many others will

And I and many others won’t !

EverythingWillFallInLine · 11/07/2021 23:16

They'd have got even fewer penalties if they'd been wearing masks. Jesus, give them a bit of a chance.

(Too soon..?)

Pinuporc · 11/07/2021 23:21

I heard some guys on the train that were going to football. Apparently you had to give your passport number, presumably for id, and one of them was laughing saying he just gave it as 12345678

Dghgcotcitc · 11/07/2021 23:26

I don’t know I am confused myself my 13 year old took a negative lateral flow this being abs will sit tomorrow for six hours with a mask in a classroom tomorrow and if one of those other people in the classroom test positive will have to self isolate for ten days. Anyway the Wembley crowd can take lateral flow test and they work so no masks? Could we give the same lateral flow test to our kids to keep them at school? - I assume they are “different” magic tests that are not the same that ever teacher on mumsnet ever said they are useless or is that only for the Under 18s?

Or football is more important than education..I am thinking it might be based in tonight!

faithfulbird20 · 11/07/2021 23:30

Proof of negative tests? Doubt it since some fans without tickets got in god knows how. Watch the rates increase the next few days...

namechangecovidquestion · 11/07/2021 23:36

Same with most of the tennis supporters

Dustyboots · 11/07/2021 23:48

LFT tests don't work very well (understatement) and are easy to fake.

The football fiasco has been a joke. I can't put into words how confused and actually sickened I feel watching that amount of people crowed together - shouting/singing etc It's great they're having a wonderful time. I"m happy for them. It's good watching them having a happy time. But why are the rest of us being put through isolations etc Choirs are still banned aren't they? All sorts of stuff is.

I can't blame anyone who fails to follow whatever stupid rules are in place tomorrow and any day after.

Dustyboots · 11/07/2021 23:52

And also all this bloody fear that's being put onto us from the press and government.

What's that about?

How can they think we'll take that seriously when we see 100s of 1000s of people crammed together unmasked, v. likely unvaccinated, untested ...

It is a farce. I hate our government. I hate they way they take us all for fools.

XenoBitch · 11/07/2021 23:53

I don't know what the deal was with maybe showing a negative LFT beforehand, and like a pp said, scientists will be watching how this pans out.

Saying that, it was a couple of hours that the nation felt united and could forget about the pandemic for a short while. Kind of sad to be watching it and getting worked up about masks.

vegas888 · 12/07/2021 00:05

@delilahbucket

Fully vaccinated or negative test for entry. The scientists are watching these events very closely as it's great data for them to see how Covid spreads when people are close by but vaccinated or testing negative. Despite what Facebook users say, these events are actually very useful.
Do you genuinely believe they checked every single one of the 60,000 in the crowd for a negative test or proof of vaccine? What about the 2,500 so called VIP’s that flew in from all around the world without quarantining too. 🙄
Marianicka · 12/07/2021 00:16

...Including the Chairman of FIFA who flew in from "red list" Brazil yesterday and was sitting unmasked v close to David Beckham, Tom Cruise and Kate Moss.

Marianicka · 12/07/2021 00:17

I read that only c. 15% of those attending previous "trial" events have logged their "after event" lateral flow tests

WeeM · 12/07/2021 00:19

It just seems all bonkers to me now-I don’t get the sense in it. I can’t get a face to face appointment with a GP, partners not allowed in to births until the last minute, but you can have thousands of people at football games Hmm. Not to mention the fact that the guys giving out the medals tonight were also shaking hands with/hugging all the players which is surely unnecessary given how much they’ve been going on about teams being in bubbles etc etc.

notimagain · 12/07/2021 00:31

Very funny…it’s football, It’s never too soon…Grin
MountainDweller · 12/07/2021 01:37

It's completely insane - amateur choirs, even those performing to professional standards, are not allowed (or were not until very very recently) to rehearse inside in a socially distance masked fashion. Yet 60,000 football fans are allowed to shout and 'sing' and hug each other all crammed in cheek by jowl? And are allowed to cram into pubs and streets and do the same? Because football makes loadsa money and the arts not so much I guess 🙄 Waiting for news of the Wembley variant in a few weeks...

NannyAndJohn · 12/07/2021 03:52

@PaulaPetunia

I'm staying home for a while.
Me too.

No non-essential trips out for the next couple of weeks.

It's the sensible thing to do following the largest superspreader event of the pandemic so far.
