Track and trace... but haven't been contacted?

My colleague has tested positive for Covid, she started to feel unwell on Wednesday but not the typical covid symptoms just general bad headache and chesty etc so she came into work as usual on Wednesday and Thursday.

We are both exempt from wearing masks and we were wearing one for the duration of our shift. We worked together from 8:30am until 2:30pm in very close proximity (small department).

They've filled in the track and trace link but I haven't heard anything (test came through positive at 2pm today).

Should I have been contacted?

@NavigatingAdolescence I'd rather not give much detail but it's healthcare setting.

I cannot believe these are the conditions being allowed.

I work in healthcare. All frontline staff wear PPE. No exceptions. Those claiming exemption are moved to other duties (many deciding they aren’t exempt after all).

We have risk assessments coming out of our ears. There is no way the scenario you have described would be allowed.
@lorca they cant and wont. If both people have the app then this will ping to say the OP has been in close contact and she needs to isolate. Otherwise there wont be any contact
And - then? The App is not legally binding, so neither need to isolate on the 'ping' of the App, only by say-so of Test-and-Trace.

*I thought employers had to enable social distancing and provide PPE if they couldn’t.

Not just let people work in close quarters as though there was no pandemic.*

I work in a nursery. We are to wear masks when answering the door to parents, and in the staff room, that's it. Social distancing is impossible with the children and very difficult at best with other staff members.

I don't think Test & Trace or the NHS app are working well...

My nephew tested positive a few weeks ago. He was never contacted by T&T to give them details of his contacts despite trying to chase them up.

My niece tested positive last week (separate case, she hadn't been in contact with her brother). I was with my niece 2 days before her symptoms started – everyone present had their NHS app tracing switched on and we checked into a venue together using it. None of us were contacted at all by T&T and none of us were pinged by the app. DN's mother had several long conversations with T&T. They said they couldn't help and that DN would receive a text with a code in so that she could log her positive result. This never happened.

Something isn't working!

Wow that's shocking!

@onthinice ...glad we didn't send her to school even thought T&T never got in touch. Now have a positive LFT so PCR booked for tomorrow. We'd have taken out her 'bubble' of 90 kids.
