Will we still need to quarantine on our way back from other countries etc?

"Apart from being unvaccinated we're a super safe family"

😂 Christ.

@Dustyboots for someone who claims not to be bothered and not following it anymore etc. you're very active still on the covid boards.

Why not just get yourself a vaccine and stop obsessing?

SuperstoreFan · 06/07/2021 09:45

I was being polite.

Dustyboots · 06/07/2021 09:47

That's a good question @walkoflifewoohoo - I have massive health anxiety issues surrounding doctors/hospitals - trust in medical professionals - stemming from trauma when I was young and ongoing. I can't bring myself to be vaccinated. A large part of me wants to be - but I have zero trust in modern medicine.

walkoflifewoohoo · 06/07/2021 09:49

Seems very cavalier to risk getting covid then for what is, essentially, a 5 minute visit to the local town hall/cricket club or wherever they're giving out the vaccines in your area.

knittingaddict · 06/07/2021 09:59

@Horehound

Lol @ vaccine being ineffective. How stupid do you have to be to believe that? Can you not think why deaths and hospital admissions are much, much lower now since millions of people are now vaccinated?

Honestly. The stupidity of some people is mind blowing.

It is isn't it.

I won't be sorry when this is all over and it won't be quite as on display as it is now.

Sunnyfreezesushi · 06/07/2021 10:18

Other countries do not want unvaccinated persons, end of. They may in certain instances make exceptions for children of vaccinated parents (eg France for under 11s but not Switzerland where all U.K. kids have to quarantine). On return to England, I expect vaccinated persons not to have to quarantine. But waiting to hear about kids and what ages etc. It is a big risk going abroad as you cannot re-enter if any one of you tests positive and you get stuck. Also as U.K. rates rise airlines are cancelling flights to and from U.K.
As a nation, our strategy is vaccinate all adults and people here are very vaccination happy compared to most other nations. The rest it is better to get Covid this summer before what is expected to be a harsh flu arrives in the winter. Government want us to mix now to get colds etc as well. That includes children.
Covid increasingly looks like a disease where re-infection is possible, in 6 monthly waves. Hopefully milder if either natural immunity or through vaccine immunity.

Sunnyfreezesushi · 06/07/2021 10:21

This opening is also a subtle push to get the unvaccinated over that line..
having the wild disease running through the community might not be a bad thing if it can also boost vaccines. But I am concerned for CEV in whom vaccines just haven’t worked. They really all need to be offered tests to check vaccine effectiveness in their bodies

Again, not much common sense going on here, is there? You're not vaccinating yourself due to not trust modern medicine yet if you get covid and happen to suffer from it, you'll be getting a modern medicine intervention anyway.

Take a look at how certain diseases have been eradicated in the UK due to vaccines. People's lives are saved every day due to "modern medicine".

foxandbee · 06/07/2021 10:44

I agree that modern medicine is certainly not to be trusted. I mean, look at how survival rates for breast cancer has vastly improved thanks to "experimental" treatments.

@Dustyboots from the numerous other posts I have seen from you over the last few months, I thought you didn't want the vaccine because you have lots of relatives/friends/colleagues who have ended up "very" ill or in hospital? Perhaps you realise that one has worn a bit thin on here and you are changing tack now to untrustworthy "modern medicine"?

RuggerHug · 06/07/2021 10:52

@Dustyboots

This is all so confusing.

I was sort of joking in my post - but I'm also very confused ...

I'm not vaccinated. I've not been keeping an eye on the rules as it's all so depressing and ever changing. Apart from being unvaccinated we're a super safe family and very unsociable which adds to our safety.

I'd really like to go on holiday - but that was looking impossible. I wonder whether we'll be allowed to go now.

Have they given up with vaccines too? Somebody said on another thread that Boris had said they were ineffectual - is that right?

Are you taking the piss? You want a holiday? You realise it's not just what Boris wants but where will allow you in. That list is going to shrink rapidly with the attitude of the UK now.

I know, it's terrible how we have anaesthetics for surgery and the way the risk of dying in childbirth or from childhood diseases has plummeted due to modern medicine.

Plus all those contraceptives that allow us to control our fertility backed up by safe and legal access to a termination if we do find ourselves pregnant when we don't want to be.

Doyouforseeproblems · 06/07/2021 11:04

What the actual fuck are you talking about??

I know. I mean, what was actuallly wrong with barefoot and pregnant, chained to the kitchen sink?

Someone is telling porkies and trying to cause trouble
Chisontoast · 06/07/2021 11:34

Haven’t rtft sorry but what’s the likelihood of other countries (esp EU) not letting us on if we’re running at 50k cases plus? I’m due to go to France (fully vaxxed) in early August so theoretically wouldn’t have to isolate on return, but wondering if these countries actually want us there !

Horehound · 06/07/2021 11:36

Ah ok, so we now know op is a regular on the covid boards, is anti Vax and is trying to seed the "oh he's just said vaccines are ineffective" line which has never been uttered by anyone at all

Weird
Why try and deter people from a vaccine just because you don't see the benefit in it :s

walkoflifewoohoo · 06/07/2021 11:41

Yep. Been at it since the start as well. Bizarre behaviour.

Orf1abc · 06/07/2021 11:44

Dusty, I remember you from other threads, and your anxiety around the vaccine. It's understandable that, with all the mixed messaging, you've become overwhelmed and switched off from it all.

If you want to go on holiday, pick a destination and look at the government's rules for travelling there, and the country's rules around UK travellers. It's easier to search for specifics than try to understand what's happening everywhere.

user1493494961 · 06/07/2021 11:50

I think the OP's bored and is on a wind-up.

Aposterhasnoname · 06/07/2021 12:26

If you’re not vaccinated then you can forget about a holiday for years cos most countries will end up insisting on a vaccine passport for entry.

OP is not anxious, but enjoys trying to make people anxious by consistently posting how terribly dangerous vaccines are.
MrsLCSofLichfield · 06/07/2021 15:34

@MRex That is how it appears to me also.

All good, then. Jenner, 18th Century.

I think you’ve been rumbled on this thread.

Maybe read the gov website?
