Will we still need to quarantine on our way back from other countries etc?

OP posts:
Topseyt · 06/07/2021 08:25

If you aren't vaccinated and want to go abroad you'll have trouble finding holiday destinations that will accept you.

Why aren't you vaccinated? Were you hoping that we could remain under Covid restrictions forever?

EasterIssland · 06/07/2021 08:51

t just feels as though today every rule and restriction has been thrown out of the window and I'm wondering whether all the travel stuff has been too - or will be.

Doubt it. The government will leave something I. Place to avoid bringing other variants. People not vaccinated are the ones most likely to bring them in. Your decision not to get vaccinated. However , the government will make a decision to try and protect the citizens of the country. Most European countries have different rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated. Some will let you in some will as for a quarantine. I love traveling and I always knew the key to be able to travel for a few years would be the vaccine.

Chloemol · 06/07/2021 08:55

If you have not been vaccinated some countries may not let you in. As I understand it from what he said red/amber countries and isolation is yet to be discussed but as non vaccinated I would bet you would have to isolate if any country let you in

No they haven’t given up on vaccines. Didn’t you see the conference yesterday? It’s because of vaccinations he’s going all out in the 19 th. and he’s still encouraging those who have to have the jab

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/07/2021 08:56

“Have they given up with vaccines too? Somebody said on another thread that Boris had said they were ineffectual - is that right”

Ok, smelling a rat now.
No, that is not right.

MareofBeasttown · 06/07/2021 08:58

I haven't seen my daughter for a year because she is in a red list country ( tho vaccinated) and you are expecting to travel to other countries unvaccinated when Delta is rocketing here? Because you heard Boris said they are ineffectual?

purpleraine · 06/07/2021 09:01

As you’re unvaccinated you will need to quarantine on return from amber countries. Many countries are not allowing you entry without either vaccination or quarantine. You will have a more limited choice of travel but there are countries you can visit without quarantine on the green list.

I was on the fence with the vaccine but got it firstly for the ‘greater good’ but also as I miss travel and knew this would be the case for a while.

userxx · 06/07/2021 09:06

Yep, Boris said they were a massive waste of time and fuck it, don't bother. Those were his exact words.

Horehound · 06/07/2021 09:06

Lol @ vaccine being ineffective.
How stupid do you have to be to believe that?
Can you not think why deaths and hospital admissions are much, much lower now since millions of people are now vaccinated?

Honestly. The stupidity of some people is mind blowing.

Horehound · 06/07/2021 09:07

@userxx

Lol 🤣
Normandy144 · 06/07/2021 09:11

If you are unvaccinated then you are going to be very limited on where you can actually go on holiday. Boris will let you out and you would have to quarantine on your way back but the available options of where you can go without being vaccinated are going to be miniscule. There are a few countries that will let you in if your unvaccinated but you will have to quarantine on arrival and/or need a compelling reason to go there. If you don't want the vaccine then your hopes for an overseas holiday are I'm afraid very far away on the horizon.

SuperstoreFan · 06/07/2021 09:14

Why aren't you vaccinated?

You're a bit daft if you're expecting to travel when you've not been vaccinated.

nether · 06/07/2021 09:21

So easiest and cheapest option is to go for herd immunity by natural selection

I know. And that's my DC for the cull.

Some CEV condition NHS mean the vaccine doesn't work well, if at all.

Apparently I'm santctimonious though, when my sadness shows.

It's real people, real MNetters whose lives are curtailed by this. We get extra risk from just doing the daily round, outbreak highly bpvuoberavoe DC have to risk school. Their siblings might go to the flicks if it's SD (masks and spacing) and go there on the tube. But that'll have to stop - and it'll be of their own volition.

Parties outdoors will stop over time, I expect. And we'll be out of sight, out of mind.

Boris is presenting a false set of choices. It's not 'now or never' and never was. Step by step, in one with the evidence is a totally valid alternative - look at what Whitty was saying about what he thinks is the safe and responsible way. There are a whole range of other options (and finally Labour is beginning to talk about them). Not all of them cutoff the weakest so completely

Zilla1 · 06/07/2021 09:22

We shouldn't expect consistency and logic. I suspect freedom might be primarily internal unless the tourism industry gets better or spends more on lobbying. Perhaps an interesting steer will be how nations that are not dependent on tourism treat travellers from the UK.

Zilla1 · 06/07/2021 09:24

It can't be easy trying to do your best by each of your DC in these circumstances, @nether

Honey12346 · 06/07/2021 09:25

@Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep

Have they given up with vaccines too? Somebody said on another thread that Boris had said they were ineffectual - is that right?

Is this a real question!???

You won't be able to go on holiday for a long time if you aren't vaccinated. Nowhere will let you in.

Have you lost the plot

Unvaccinated people are going on holidays right now, you just get a test if you're not vaccinated. Maybe this changes in the future but this is the situation now

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 06/07/2021 09:31

Under the current rules you can travel to Greece if unvaccinated - you will need a negative test before travel. On the way back you will need a test before travel and then a 10 day quarantine with tests on days 2 and 8 (you can pay extra for a test on day 5 which will release you from the quarantine if negative).

That's obviously the current rules and they may change. You would need to check with each country to see what their entry requirements are.

Grin Boris doesn’t do exact words though! He just waffles.

There was a post on Twitter saying masks/non masks in the future was Remsin/Leave again.

Honey12346 · 06/07/2021 09:33

@Normandy144

This simply isn't true. Most countries let unvaccinated people in with no quarantine if they present a negative test.

I am on holiday right now and unvaccinated. At the time I left on my holiday the UK wasn't even offering vaccine to people my age so couldn't even get it. Stop spreading misinformation.

Dustyboots · 06/07/2021 09:34

I probably have lost the plot @Honey12346 - in fact I definitely have lost where we are in the plot at the moment.

If as you say unvaccinated people are going on holiday right now and you just get a test if you're unvaccinated - I'm not the only one who doesn't realise this.

OP posts:
Topseyt · 06/07/2021 09:35

Now there you really are talking bollocks. Not one of the scientists have said that. Boris has said and done many stupid things, but I am pretty sure he hasn't said the vaccines are ineffectual.

Don't believe all the shit you might read on here or in some of the gutter press.

If you want to travel then it will be much easier if you have been vaccinated and can provide the proof.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 06/07/2021 09:35

@Postdatedpandemic

We have a reasonable vaccination rate (like Israel) but not quite high enough for herd immunity. Come Winter this will be a problem. So easiest and cheapest option is to go for herd immunity by natural selection. Let infections run riot amongst the willing and pray that a moderate Winter infection rate will follow. The Tories were working on reducing the social care bill before the pandemic hit. The more vulnerable people that die, the better.
That is horrendously cynical but I'm sad to say, I have to agree with you there. So many mistakes made from the start of the pandemic, and the PM is not admitting his responsibility for any of them, nor allowing himself and his government to be held accountable. Poor Chris Whitty now reminds me of Dr Fauci with #45.
Honey12346 · 06/07/2021 09:36

Also @Normandy114 last sentence is chilling but also quite funny to read it while lying on a beach in a sunny European country right now

Doyouforseeproblems · 06/07/2021 09:36

Why aren't you vaccinated? You're part of the problem tbh

CottageGardener · 06/07/2021 09:37

@SuperstoreFan

Why aren't you vaccinated?

You're a bit daft if you're expecting to travel when you've not been vaccinated.

If you've read all the OPs post, 'a bit daft' is being generous. Utterly stupid would be a better description. But I suspect it's another antivax windup.
Furloughlaylow · 06/07/2021 09:40

The CV thing is worse now than in june but it was unsafe to travel then because we could bring back in new variants (reason given to take Portugal of the Green list) BUT now with soaring infections across europe (but with politicians about to break up) its very soon going to be perfectly safe to go, no danger of bring back new virus to the UK at all.

You really couldn't make this shit up and we will all cheer for Boris!
