Just seen in the news- School bubbles set to end on July 19
Sajid Javid has announced the date that school isolation bubbles will end.

He says that it is likely to be July 19, and under-18s who are traced as close contacts will be exempt from the need to isolate.

Thank goodness.

We’ve got 360 kids and 15 staff all off at the minute!

So that means that isolation of close-contacts for adults will continue? That is very helpful to know. I wondered if SI would continue and hadn't heard anything -- everyone is talking about masks instead and not the important things. Argh.

It will be stopped in fully vaccinated people, so the vast majority of 18+ by September.

Does this also mean that children don't have to isolate (after 19th) if someone in their household tests positive?

Jamieson90 · 05/07/2021 21:49

Adults still need to self isolate if contacted by test and trace before and beyond the 19th July.

Children will need to isolate before the 19th of July but not afterwards if they come into contact with someone who is positive.

Johnson has yet to say whether children will need to test instead.

The goverment are no longer going to require businesses and services to enfore mask wearing, but won't stop businesses and services that require people to wear them. It's now down to the discretion of individual businesses and services whether they enforce mask wearing or not.

@3teens2cats

Surely any changes will be effective from September rather than literally 19th July. School specific rules i mean.
It's so holiday clubs can run and not have bubbles etc. Great news as the one my kids go to were relying on this to allow daily swimming.

I found the statement online, looks like amber country quarantine rules for fully vaccinated will also relax, soonish. This matters a lot more to me than flipping masks or not.

Night Clubs are opening... this matters to adult DC.
