Am I seeing things? Me and daughter did lateral flow, hers is clearly negative, I can see a faint like. I've booked PCR tests but am I just seeing things?

Is this positive??

@floatingboater

I can't see anything, and as pp said, what's showing on that saturated photo looks like the shadow of the line that's meant to react?
This was bothering me and I remembered I actually had a photo of a previous negative.

I gave it a similar treatment and can’t see a hint of a line on it.

Is this positive??
GalacticDragonfly · 01/07/2021 18:28

I can’t see the line at all except on the saturated photo. In other circumstances, it would be a fascinating test of difference in people’s vision/colour perception.

If it helps, I had a photo of a negative test and I’ve just played around with saturation settings etc and couldn’t replicate that second line, so I think a PCR is the right move.

Catawaul · 01/07/2021 18:41

I'm quite concerned that I can't see it except in the colour edited shot! If it had been mine I'd definitely have reported it as negative.

Yes - I’m now wondering how many of the false negatives are because not everyone can see the line on the test unless the result is strong.
TigerLils · 01/07/2021 18:58

Let us know what the PCR says

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/07/2021 20:59

I thought the second line was going to be strong. Like the test line. Goodness, it’s worrying.

Verite1 · 01/07/2021 21:42

I can’t see a line in either of the photos to be honest

ilovehalloumi · 02/07/2021 09:21

2 negative PCR tests 😁😁

@ilovehalloumi that's good
I wonder why you got a line
I keep seeing things on threads about how kids can fake a positive with fruit juice etc
Did you drink orange juice before doing the test or something similar ?

ilovehalloumi · 02/07/2021 09:33

I didn't, I'm not feeling right well, I have heard that the test picks up other viruses so perhaps it's that. I have no idea 🤷🏼‍♀️

Great news @ilovehalloumi Smile

I’ve heard that LFT’s might pick up other viruses too, and there’s false positives that’s why it’s the advice to do a PCR.

R0llonspring · 02/07/2021 15:21

Fantastic news @ilovehalloumi

Very helpful thread though. I read a similar one about faint lines on MN on Sunday. On Wednesday morning I was scrutinising my DD LF test so closely I spotted this faint line. I'm convinced I would have overlooked it otherwise.

She had a Positive confirmed PCR within 24 hours. Hope we were swift enough not to spead it round :(

Is this positive??
FuckingFabulous · 02/07/2021 16:29

I had one like this today and then did another two hours later and the line was stronger. I've done a PCR, I've had a headache for about a week now!

Itsokthanks · 02/07/2021 16:34

It wouldn't cross my mind to think that's a positive.

Oh no, I'm so sorry.

My DH and I have both had a banging headache since Wednesday night too. We think we have it, but the LF keeps saying no.

MargaretThursday · 02/07/2021 17:07

@littlepeas

If that were a pregnancy test posted on AIBU everyone would be saying there’s nothing there.
I was thinking the other way. Everyone would be saying "congratulations" when I can't see even the tiniest line.
Bryonyshcmyony · 02/07/2021 17:10

I can see springs but not the Ops

paniniswapx3 · 02/07/2021 18:14

@R0llonspring have you guys been vaccinated? Apparently a headache is one of the top 5 symptoms if you've had both vaccines and they advise getting a PCR test with that symptom.

@Nofriend

You need a pcr is you have symptoms not a lateral flow. Pcr is more sensitive lateral flows can give false negative.
OP has done a PCR test.

Yes thankfully we have both been vaccinated. Our second AZ vaccine was 3 weeks ago.

I did a PCR with DD on Wednesday and it was negative. We are isolating anyway, because DD is positive. I am awaiting a postal PCR delivery soon, so Dh and I can check then.
