DS has done 3 tests today as a friend, who he’d seen on Sunday, tested positive yesterday.

I took the photo of the last one after 30 minutes, but the other 2 haven’t changed since I read them at 30 mins anyway.

I think I can see a line, but DH thinks I’m mad. Can anyone else see anything?

Defo all positive? Confused No way are they all positive!

SecretKeeper1 · 29/06/2021 17:50

@NoWordForFluffy @Howshouldibehave

I had NO idea Shock I can see an extremely faint line on OP’s third test if I zoom in, but I’m not sure I’d have noticed it in real life (tests done before bed so not in daylight) will definitely check more closely next time.

SaveloyDip · 29/06/2021 17:50

It actually says in the booklet that even the faintest of lines is counted as a line.

klangers · 29/06/2021 17:51

The "faintness" of the line is irrelevant. There is a line on 2 and 3, book a PCR test and household contacts isolate until you get the PCR result.

Here PCR have been coming back very fast, within 24 hours.

@SecretKeeper1 We do ours late at night too. I always turn my phone torch on and look very closely before I log the result online.

SecretKeeper1 · 29/06/2021 17:58

@GorgeousGoldies

Well I’m glad to have raised awareness about faint positive lines 😂 Thanks for the good wishes.
LOL but seriously, I’m not surprised it keeps spreading if lines as faint as that count. Some people wouldn’t notice it and would merrily send their kids into school.
Nootkah · 29/06/2021 18:00

@LynetteScavo I think it must depend on phone screen colour/resolution. I can definitely see a positive line on all three. Incredibly faint on number 1, but definitely there.

x2boys · 29/06/2021 18:23

They all look positive to me😢

kezziethegingercat · 29/06/2021 18:51

I've had a lot of practice of looking at pregnancy tests for faint lines during ttc so I can see lines on all 3, the last looks quite dark.

BarbarianMum · 29/06/2021 18:55

I think 2 and 3 are positive. Do a pcr and take it from there.

LifesTooShortYOLO · 29/06/2021 21:19

Be interesting to know what his PCR comes back as. Please let us know 😊
Good luck x

RisingSunn · 29/06/2021 21:23

If it’s the same as a pregnancy test where a line is a line. Then I can clearly see lines on test 2 and 3 and extremely faintly on 1.

BoomChicka · 29/06/2021 21:24

On 3 yes, but I'd have binned 1 and 2 without a second thought!

conkersarebonkers · 29/06/2021 21:27

Ah, at least it's a change from "when is a cough really a cough" to "when is a line really a line"!

Faint lines are positive lines, as long as they're read within the 30 minutes. I see lines on your tests.

FWIW DS had similar faint lines on two separate tests, from two different packs, a week apart. Both times the follow up PCRs were negative.

Hophop26 · 29/06/2021 21:39

I would definitely read 2 and 3 as being positive and book pcr to confirm. Really quite concerned that so many think negative but I have far too much experience of the cheap pregnancy test strips and interpreting the faint lines! Who knew that would come in handy for LFTs!

Chicoryhickory · 29/06/2021 21:49

It may present darker if you text again tomorrow. I would book a pcr test.

Lakeshore6 · 29/06/2021 22:47

I’m afraid they are positives. My first test was exactly like this

AvaCallanach · 29/06/2021 22:52

@SecretKeeper1

I’ve just looked up positive LFTs on Twitter and THIS is what a positive looks like:
This is my son's LFT that was a positive PCR a couple of days later. Had a post on here at the time and was told negative so visited elderly grandma the next day. Luckily we social distanced and only met outdoors.

Sorry - second photo.

FindingMeno · 29/06/2021 22:57

I would have thought they were all negative, but obviously I've thought the lines would be clear.

This could be why I found out I was pregnant at 20+ weeks Grin..

Seriously though, my eyes aren't that bad, how would someone with worse eyesight manage to read these?

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 30/06/2021 07:36

I wonder if photo resolution has something to do with it. Pics attached to posts on MN have to be comparatively low resolution to get under the file-size limit, so maybe thinner/fainter lines disappear?

SouthernComforts · 30/06/2021 07:39

Yes, must be, however other people can see lines.. maybe different screen settings?

Nootkah · 30/06/2021 07:50

@AvaCallanach Wow. Im sorry that you visited your relative after a very faint positive test line on a lateral flow , hope all went OK and your elderly grandma remains well. However I am simply stunned that you would choose to follow the advice of a bunch of randoms on the internet, rather than follow the instructions in the leaflet, or ring 111?

Stillgoings · 30/06/2021 07:59

Yeah I can see very faint lines on all, especially no3
