DS has done 3 tests today as a friend, who he’d seen on Sunday, tested positive yesterday.

I took the photo of the last one after 30 minutes, but the other 2 haven’t changed since I read them at 30 mins anyway.

I think I can see a line, but DH thinks I’m mad. Can anyone else see anything?

I can only see a faint line on 3. 😬

GorgeousGoldies · 29/06/2021 17:30

Thanks @Orchidflower1

Purple - we read all of them at 30 minutes. The photo was of the final one at 30 minutes. The others were obviously from earlier in the day, but hadn't changed since reading them at 30 minutes, so I included them in my message.

Oh dear, I must look more closely at mine! I just assumed the test line would be visible; I'm not sure I can even see #3!

GorgeousGoldies · 29/06/2021 17:34

Thanks @whatswithtodaytoday

I think people are looking at the control lines, not the test lines?

CupOfTPlease · 29/06/2021 17:36

@PurpleDaisies

Why has he done three tests today? Surely the first negative one was enough? They’re all negative. You can’t read a LFT after 30 minutes.
There is lines on every single one...
CupOfTPlease · 29/06/2021 17:37

Yes he's positive. PCR test and isolation.

SecretKeeper1 · 29/06/2021 17:39

I’m so confused. I always assumed the positive line would be as strong as the test line, no? Quite possible my kids have had COVID every week if lines that faint count - I would definitely not count that as a positive.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/06/2021 17:39

Well, this is a new version of the 'can you see a line' thread!

I can also see lines, OP. I hope he doesn't suffer too badly (and you don't catch it from him).

If you put the brightness up on your phone/pc you can probably see a second line on at least the third.
SecretKeeper1 · 29/06/2021 17:41

I’ve just looked up positive LFTs on Twitter and THIS is what a positive looks like:

Spinningaround21 · 29/06/2021 17:42

Maybe on 3 but it’s not as obvious as I’ve seen. Book a pcr for him to know for definite and isolate until results

Frlrlrubert · 29/06/2021 17:42

It's the exact same principle as a pregnancy test. A faint line is a line. I can definitely see lines on 2 and 3.

Walkaround · 29/06/2021 17:43

Blimey, I didn’t realise the line could be that faint! Can’t see a line on test 1, and would have thought I was imagining it on test 2 and that it was a shadow cast from something in the room. I can see an incredibly faint line on test 3 that is definitely not a shadow, but tbh would have assumed it was negative unless the same colour as, or a similar colour to, the test line, or would have retested after something that faint as I would have wondered if maybe the mark was already on there before the test was taken, given that it’s grey like the background paper. The leaflets that come with the boxes ought to warn you that a faint grey line that is invisible to some people might indicate a positive test!

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 29/06/2021 17:43

I wonder if this is an eyesight thing because I can't see a line on any of them. (On the Ts anyway, I can see the control lines!) And I'm looking at this on a big iMac with a retina 4k display.

Hallyup6 · 29/06/2021 17:43

Yes to 2 and 3. Definitely lines on them.

4PawsGood · 29/06/2021 17:43

Or this! Obviously they can be fainter or darker. Any line is a line.

RuthW · 29/06/2021 17:43

I can only see positive on the third

Nootkah · 29/06/2021 17:43

@GorgeousGoldies I see a positive on all three. Very very faint on number 1, but there. Book a pcr and isolate. Hope he only has a mild bout x

NoWordForFluffy · 29/06/2021 17:44

@SecretKeeper1, the instructions say faint lines are a positive.

@SecretKeeper1

I’ve just looked up positive LFTs on Twitter and THIS is what a positive looks like:
That is a strong positive, yes.

But, as you can see by the government guidelines posted above, there are faint positives as well which are still positive!

SecretKeeper1 · 29/06/2021 17:45

@4PawsGood oh shit, I better start looking at them more closely Shock

GorgeousGoldies · 29/06/2021 17:47

Well I’m glad to have raised awareness about faint positive lines 😂 Thanks for the good wishes.

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 29/06/2021 17:47

I can just about see a line on test 3, but no the others. Have a PCR test, just to be sure.

Nootkah · 29/06/2021 17:48

@SecretKeeper1 ANY line in the test area, no matter how faint, is a positive. Its like a pregnancy test.. It can only change colour if the thing it is measuring is present, and the more of that thing there is rhe steonger it will be. If your children's tests have had faint lines then your children have likely had covid present in their swabs.
