Sons bubble burst

My son is 8 and has ASD. Up until now, there's not been any cases in his school.

But today I got a call saying his classes bubble has burst so he needs to isolate. I'm just wondering how, as he won't understand why he can't go out or to school, he will also be out of routine and very bored and I want to avoid him having any meltdowns if possible.

Any advice will be appreciated.

We have been doing walks in isolated places from the beginning.
There is a treasure hunt all called geocache: kids love it.
I give them a sweet each time we find something.

Luckily only one period of isolation but we avoid busy places and obviously shops.
Mental health is more important now for us

My 7 year old bubbles burst today too. His 9 year old brother can still go in. After watching the football tonight there is fucking zero chance he isn't coming for a walk with me for a week.

They probably expect people to do stuff but it’s a cop out as it’s still not dealing with the impact

Exactly @PicsInRed

Have we all forgotten that the pubs and golf courses opened before the schools last year?

@LindaEllen - he can't go out, he's isolating

My son will be going out. In fact he's been out on the front playing on his ezy roller this very evening

School won't accept them but I'm damned if I'm keeping my healthy kids locked in the house for ten days every time they may potentially have been in the vicinity of someone with covid. Just no. I've had enough. Multiple periods of isolation and so much missed school. Hellish days of home schooling
Well said.
