The Government has announced that senior executives can temporarily leave quarantine in England if they are undertaking business activities which will bring 'significant economic benefit' to the economy.

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Tens of thpusands of working parents bring "significant economic benefit" to the country, yet can't because they have to constantly isolate due to the fact their children may, or may not have been contact with someone with covid...... What a fucking joke.
This! Not to mention NHS staff that have to isolate and what they bring to the table!
Bellringer · 29/06/2021 19:20

Politicians have always lied but they used to want ou to believe it. Now they don't even care

ssd · 29/06/2021 19:21

Total joke

GrandmasNightgown · 29/06/2021 19:22

Yup - good to see the first announcement under the new health secretary is such an utter clusterfuck

Arrowheart · 29/06/2021 19:26

@3cats2kids

While kids have their education fucked?!

Like others have said, either you need to isolate or you don’t. Being rich and ‘important’ shouldn’t come into it.

Exactly

@Thunderingwankgoblet

The posters arguing for more restrictions need to cop on. Like the solution to any of this is more restriction....they’ve got you exactly where they want you, begging for more punishment.

What a disgrace it all is.

Wheresmybiscuit3 · 30/06/2021 01:16

Looks like they aren’t even going to pretend we are all in this together anymore!

GiveMeNovocain · 30/06/2021 03:25

@Tealightsandd

Other countries banned non essential travel.

The UK didn't. Not really.

That's why we're in the situation we're in now.

Cases were low at the end of the winter lockdown. We could have had proper 'freedom'. Freedom without mass death and disability. But the government kept our borders wide open. And in came the Boris strain (which the government then allowed to freely spread).

And so we become the high risk country that anywhere sensible restricts entry from.

Close the borders like in Australia? No incentive to vaccinate, no prior immunity and delta spreading. No thanks!

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10097383/Row-allegations-Boris-Carrie-Johnson-broke-Covid-lockdown-rules-Christmas.html

A row broke out last night over allegations that Boris Johnson and his now wife Carrie broke Covid lockdown rules last Christmas by allowing her best friend to stay with them at Downing Street.

The Prime Minister denied claims in the US Harper's Magazine that political campaigner Nimco Ali 'spent Christmas with the couple at No 10 despite pandemic restrictions on holiday gatherings'.

I thought schoolchildren didn't have to isolate as 'close contacts' anymore? They don't in my school, anyway.

psychomath · 18/10/2021 18:24

In England, anyway. Not sure what the rules are in the rest of the UK.

Backofbeyond50 · 18/10/2021 18:46

It's an old thread.
