Has anyone had a test recently (PCR from NHS)? How long to get results?

My son developed a temperature, no other symptoms, but we took him for a test at a drive through center this morning at 8am (big testing site near one of the biggest airports - London). He's now been feeling ok for the last 24 hours but I wanted to be sure before sending him back to nursery.
I know officially it might take up to two days, but I am interested in hearing real life stories (hoping the waiting time is way shorter!).

Thanks!

user1471527091 · 29/06/2021 09:30

Last Monday, test 9.30am, results 10pm - in South East.

SuperMonkeys · 29/06/2021 09:31

I sent off a postal test yesterday, hoping for a quick turnaround

shortpeopleproblems · 29/06/2021 09:34

Two recent tests here. 8am results back at 10pm, 9am results back during the night (like 2am) so still in time for school the next day.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 29/06/2021 09:35

Tested yesterday at 10am, results back at 5am.

Mingasauros · 29/06/2021 09:37

Tested yesterday at 9am, results back 2am this morning (East Midlands)

Hotcuppatea · 29/06/2021 09:37

Less than 24 hours. Very impressive.

butterry · 29/06/2021 09:42

Tested at 1pm, results back by 6am the next morning

Mummyratbag · 29/06/2021 10:04

10th of June (so not too recent) - 12 hours (we are in the depths of SW so not sure if that makes a difference as no idea where labs are)

user1471523870 · 29/06/2021 10:10

Wow, impressive speed indeed. And seems consistent (assuming we are probably all from different areas). I will report back when I get them, hopefully tonight or early morning tomorrow!

same day for all 5 of the tests our family have had.

Rainbowsandstorms · 29/06/2021 10:20

Previous tests over the past few months have all been within 24 hours or less. Tested last Friday at 10am and it took until 3pm on Saturday to get our results.

Puppylucky · 29/06/2021 10:24

Had to do it a couple of weeks ago - tested on Tuesday at 9am results back by Thursday morning 6am so nearly 48 hrs. I'm in SE London.

everybodysang · 29/06/2021 10:28

26 hours last week.

whataballbag · 29/06/2021 10:36

Took DS at 4pm yesterday, positive results at 8am this morning.

LarsErickssong · 29/06/2021 10:55

My DP tested at 9am yesterday at Sevenoaks and still not heard anything, replies on this thread are giving me hope it should be soon!

bluebunnyblue · 29/06/2021 10:56

I got tested at 2pm yesterday, result was 8am this morning.

RocioMartinez · 29/06/2021 11:29

Tested at drive-through centre at 9.30 yesterday. Result was emailed to me at 1.30am this morning. This was despite being told it may be up to 48 hours. South East

EmmaStone · 29/06/2021 11:34

48 hrs at a drive through for DS, once I'd chased 119 (test hadn't been registered so had to do that over the phone, then got results within seconds of hanging up).

This is exactly what happened when I took DC for a PCR test a couple of weeks ago.

summersolstice43 · 29/06/2021 11:46

I did one on Saturday and sent it back same day as it was a home testing kit, got results yesterday, negative yeeey.

currentlynotavailable · 29/06/2021 12:06

Postal test sent back one morning last week & had the results the following morning.

WorriedWishingWell · 29/06/2021 15:13

DD was told this morning her PCR will take 3 to 5 days, hoping that was hugely exaggerated.

user1471523870 · 30/06/2021 08:52

Got it at 5am this morning (negative....phewwww). Great!
