Has anyone had a test recently (PCR from NHS)? How long to get results?

My son developed a temperature, no other symptoms, but we took him for a test at a drive through center this morning at 8am (big testing site near one of the biggest airports - London). He's now been feeling ok for the last 24 hours but I wanted to be sure before sending him back to nursery.
I know officially it might take up to two days, but I am interested in hearing real life stories (hoping the waiting time is way shorter!).

Thanks!

@WorriedWishingWell

DD was told this morning her PCR will take 3 to 5 days, hoping that was hugely exaggerated.
Took 21 hours in the end, negative

Took DS yesterday at 9am and I’m still waiting today at 2pm - 3 kids at home (inc baby) and both me and DH working.

We’ve just had to have one for dd this afternoon at 2.30pm. I’ve had both dds tested. Dd has stopped coughing and spluttering, fingers crossed it’s just her being run down.

Ours took 30 hrs over the weekend (walk through). Was irritating as we missed a big family event and mumsnet said mainly 24 hrs or less. Typical.

Got one done yesterday at 10.15am - result back just after midnight. Am in central Scotland- drive through site was busy too!

DPs that I mentioned up thread took 32 hours (SE), I did one yesterday morning and just had the result after 22 hours (NW)

Still waiting from the 2.30pm appointment we had yesterday 😫 it’s bloody agony. SE, but it was like the Marie Celeste when I walked into the temporary marquee.
