Anyone heard of this?

Just found out that a family member (anti vax) will be staying 2m away from vaccinated people due to their concerns regarding vaccinesafety. I have never heard of this one and have no idea what to say to them. Why on earth do they think this and how do they expect to manage day to day life when so many people are vaccinated? On a practical level we have a small family wedding coming up and this sounds completely impossible to deal with! I would like to have some knowledge of the 'facts' so I have an idea of what to say/do!! Has anyone else heard of this?

They call it "shedding" -it's on a par with the 5G conspiracy.

Just tell them that you think for their safety it might be better all round if they stayed 2 km away. Grin

dementedpixie · 26/06/2021 10:27

Are they scared the 5G will get them?

Geamhradh · 26/06/2021 10:27

Look up vaccine shedding.
The conspiracy theorists believe that standing close to a vaccinated person makes women infertile.

Shock do they?! Wow. This one I hadn't heard!
oohmethumb · 26/06/2021 10:35

Only anecdotally, not fact, but there is a belief that because vaccinated people are more likely to have asymptomatic or mild Covid, they are less likely to know they are infected, less likely to test and therefore more risky - to both vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

alloalloallo · 26/06/2021 10:35

I have an anti-vaxxer at work who believes those of us who have had the jab are a danger to him due to shedding.

He kicked right off when people started getting their first jab - refusing to come to work, etc. We had to get HR involved as he was awful.

We created him his own area where he didn’t have to mix with the rest of us. He’s shut up about it now thank goodness

ColettesEarrings · 26/06/2021 10:35

Just ignore it and don't humour them.

Geamhradh · 26/06/2021 10:50

@Legoninjago1, yep. There have been stories on the internet of shopkeepers refusing to let the vaccinated in when there are women present.

Yet again, can't cure stupid sadly.

81Byerley · 26/06/2021 10:59

Personally, I don't want any anti vaxxer near me or mine!

Larabananas · 26/06/2021 11:03

Googling vaccine shedding now.. Thanks :) Unfortunately sarcasm is definitely not going to help with this but hopefully a bit of knowledge will!

I'm quite glad I'm 5G readyGrin

From what I’ve seen and read some people are reporting unusual side effects after being around people who are vaccinated, mostly menstrual changes and abnormal bruising. The explanation given is vaccinated people are shedding spike protein which is causing these symptoms, I haven’t looked in to whether this rings true or not this is just from what I’ve seen on social media.

UserAtRandom · 26/06/2021 11:11

On a practical level I imagine they will just avoid anywhere where there is people :)

So not much different to all the people that really enjoyed lockdowns and now wish to stick to mostly being at home with very little physical interaction with the outside world.

Like most things you've "seen on social media", it's utter bollocks.

It's utter BS.

The same things on social media claim 'only 900 babies so far have died from infected breast milk'

Remember when half of Europe paused their vaccination programmes becuase a dozen people developed venous sinus thrombosis? If the above claims were even remotely likely, nevermind true, it'd be headline news for weeks.

Angrymum22 · 26/06/2021 11:18

Actually I’m delighted that anti vaxxers are inclined to stay 2m away from me. I would rather not have Covid again, mild or otherwise, and my scientific/medical brain tells me that they are more likely to have Covid than vaccinated individuals.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 26/06/2021 11:18

My husband is anti-covid vax. Our daughter had a bad case of eczema. He started talking some nonsense about children in America developing a reaction to their nursery workers. 🙄🙄🙄

Angrymum22 · 26/06/2021 11:25

Also how can they possibly know that they are around vaccinated people. Or for that matter which vaccine they have had. I would assume that only Pfizer/Moderna would theoretically shed if indeed this is possible.
I do quite like the idea I am but walking around with a haze of spike protein wafting about me.
Maybe only the batshit crazy can see it, a bit like an aura or maybe it’s like “The Green Mile” healer.

Sorry I cant agree with you on that one. The vaccine has been linked to a few serious conditions but it is not being reported on headline news. Only the DailyFail seem to be reporting it.

wasthataburp · 26/06/2021 11:34

A lot of vaccines shed but they have specifically said that the Covid vaccines do not. People have gone nuts!

AnguaResurgam · 26/06/2021 11:37

Not many vaccines shed. The flu sniff does (which is why there is advice to keep newly immunised DC away from the elderly and vulnerable)

The old oral polio vaccine did (and there was precautionary advice for that too) but the current injectable does not shed, so that's lapsed)

Are there any others at all?

justchecking1 · 26/06/2021 12:28

Some of the live vaccines do, but we don't tend to have many live vaccines these days.

justchecking1 · 26/06/2021 12:29

Typhoid possibly?

so you reckon 900 babies have died from infected breast milk?

evidence?

Cindy974 · 26/06/2021 13:34

Where have I said that?

I said just because something is not headline news does not mean its not happening. My point was the vaccine has been linked to conditions for example myocarditis but its not headline news. I did not say it was causing infected breastmilk, my point was stop being so trusting of mainstream media.
