Palpitations after the Pfizer vaccination

I had the first Pfizer jab around a month ago and have been getting palpitations a lot since then. I'm under a fair bit of stress atm but have been for ages and palpitations aren't normal for me.

Has anyone else had this?

I have read a lot more about people experiencing palpitations after Pfizer on the vaccination sub-Reddit I think mainly because there are a lot more Americans on there and Pfizer is the main vaccine.

Everyone experiencing this symptom needs to yellow card it. I feel like with the men steal cycle side effects many people won't bother to put two and two together until they come across a thread like this and are encouraged to yellow card.

I know this is a serious thread but 'men steal cycle effects' really made me laugh Smile

I'm still getting the palpitations but I'm sure it's connected to the indigestion, which I didn't have prior to the vaccine. I'm now being checked for helibactor pylori (something to do with the gut), and have been prescribed omeprazole. I found that taking Gaviscon Advance four times a day after meals (advice from doctor) really made a difference. I'm still waiting for a hospital appointment to have the 24hr heart monitor. At least if you've spoken to the doctor you'll get checked and that should put your mind at rest.

I had this too. Had palpitations and my heart felt tight and I was more out of breath than usual. I am very fit and was able to continue to do yoga and the things I usually do, but I had this really unpleasant physical sensation in my heart which did not feel normal. I took aspirin and paracetamol which helped. At some point I was getting a bit worried and was researching ECGs etc. Eventually it went away after 3 weeks or so.
I also had covid 6 months ago - I barely had any symptoms except for a feeling of heart and lung tightness which lasted a few weeks (and brief loss of smell which was how I knew I had covid), the heart tightness feeling was similar.

@Raindancer411 he said it might but more likely it’s just an additional trigger now on top of age /menopause for me so he seems to think I need treatment. I had them v occasionally before but not causing a problem. Since day 3 after first jab it’s been every 24-48hrs 🤷‍♀️

Wherediditgo · 27/06/2021 12:53

Yes I had some palpitations after the Pfizer jab. I also had them a lot before it!! In my case it’s general stress and anxiety. I’m sure of it.

I also banged my shin on my bed and got a huge bruise about 2 weeks after my jab. Don’t suspect a link there either.

Raindancer411 · 27/06/2021 13:36

@Wherediditgo Same, I had all the monitors and tests and not long had it all repeated last year when pregnant

Angrymum22 · 27/06/2021 22:41

I developed palpitations after having Covid last year. Took a couple of months to settle down and I had to give up caffeine which was far more stressful. I noticed a recurrence after both Pfizer jabs. I put it down to a reaction to the protein in the vaccine. My last vaccination was at the end of March and it settled down fairly quickly.
I am due to have a heart scan sometime, I have them routinely due to medication I take, so cannot rule out other causes at the moment.
Palpitations have been found in a significant number of people who have had covid.

Gosh I’m surprised at some of the responses here. Yes there are reports in the US and Israel over heart inflammation issues. I thought this was mainstream news now? Please do get checked OP and yellow card it.

The MHRA is ridiculously slow at detecting issues compared to other regulators - this and the period issue are still being “no evidenced”.

I advise you to see a therapist as soon as possible. More than once, I have come across similar stories from people who were vaccinated. It is for this reason that I still hesitate to get vaccinated. Not long ago, I started to feel unwell. My mom insisted that I do a rapid covid test. She ordered it from www.confirmbiosciences.com/covid19-instant-coronavirus-test-kit/ and gave it to me immediately. The result was positive. I spent about three to four weeks at home in quarantine. There were no serious consequences, and in general, the disease proceeded easily. Already when I was cured, my doctor wanted to register me for a vaccine. But all these stories scare me. After all, how do I know how my body will react to this vaccine. I think, for now, I should fully recover from the coronavirus. And I'll think about the vaccine later.

I’ve had this, and have been breathless and chest pain/tightness. Initially thought it was stress related, but my oxygen saturation was also dropping to 92%.
I’ve had beta blockers, which helped and after 3 weeks the symptoms have eased. Am having a 24hr ecg. The palpitations are starting to return, but no where near as bad as what they were. Even having a bath was exhausting.
I believe that mine were caused by the Pfizer, I have had both vaccines. Mild palpitations after the first, but much worse after the second.

Raindancer411 · 14/07/2021 22:19

@BlueistheNewme That is worrying to hear. I have suffered with palpitations for a few years but all heart tests have come back fine and it's more than likely down to stress/anxiety. After my first I thought I was having a few more palps than usual but didn't think anything of it until they started to report on the heart inflammation. Got my second beginning of august and really worrying about it...

BlueistheNewme · 14/07/2021 23:01

I think it’s difficult, as it’s hard to know if it is def the vaccine. So I don’t feel I can fill out a yellow card. I did fill one out for the swollen lymph nodes I had after the second vaccine. My armpit and breast on that side were very swollen and painful.

MilanaH · 12/08/2021 20:42

@WallabyLullaby
Did you find out what was causing your palpitations? I had a thyroid response to the vaccine and it caused me to have palpitations, dizziness, brain fog
