Why are Mount and Chilwell isolating but none of the Scotland squad?

Billy Gilmour has Covid (excellent Scottish football players) none of the Scottish team apparently are close contacts, but two England players are?

Maybe they are lovers?

A Chelsea love in? Maybe you have a point.

I'm just very fucked off as kid currently in isolation for a much more spurious reason. Yet again different rules for the masses.

Also very interesting as Sturgeon is quick to ban visitors to Manchester...

The Manchester ban is hilarious. How are they going to stop folk? Border checks?

Honey12346 · 21/06/2021 18:27

Are you sure they are isolating for 10 days?

That would mean they will miss the next 2-3 matches, I find that hard to believe

It is breaking news so nothing clear at the moment but it looks like it

I can only assume government has put some pressure on, because it looks like a fucking farce that a football player can test positive but the people they share a shower with don't need to!

Completely aside but when did Southgate drop his waistcoat, (he is currently doing an interview)

It's all a big ploy to help Scotland through to the next round.

Well played UEFA 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😉

TakeYourFinalPosition · 21/06/2021 18:41

The announcement about Gilmore was clear that others might have to isolate, but they’d already done UEFA PCRs on Sunday and were awaiting results, and lateral flows this afternoon…

And the FA are now working out who has to isolate and for how long.

It hasn’t been speedy or effective but what has, really… the hooha about footballers getting away with everything seems premature. It’s been the same in all professional sport, as far as I’m aware.

I don’t think Southgate has worn a waistcoat since the last tournament. I haven’t seen him in one this time.

But I’m also curious about how Mount & Chilwell have to isolate, specifically. You wouldn’t have thought the teams should be mixing post game…

That I would believe if Billy's results had been hushed up. Tbf, the loss of Billy to Scotland is greater than England's loss.

They were quite huggy on the pitch.

The current message from Scotland FA is that there are no close contacts, this is complete bollocks.

I don't understand either. How on earth can two opposition players be close contacts if the rest of his team arnt?!

SimonJT · 21/06/2021 18:49

Its probably due to being outdoors.

I play rugby, if I test positive my team mates won’t be close contacts if that contact is outside, but they would if we were close together inside.

Castlecould · 21/06/2021 18:52

The 2 England players are his Chelsea team mates who were talking and hugging BG apparently at the end of the game

Surely they would have been in close contact in the changing rooms!!!!

But two players on the opposite team have to isolate?

SURELY they have been mixing indoors. Like I genuinely cannot believe that none of his team mates have been close contacts indoors. Or does it not matter if they've been wearing masks?

TastyMeatPuppet · 21/06/2021 18:56

Ooooh Chelsea meet up?

aleC4 · 21/06/2021 18:57

There was a video on one of the Scotland players Instagram accounts of Gilmour and at least two other Scottish players playing table tennis together the night before his positive test.
Strangely it has been pulled......

Exactly 💯

Gutted though Sad

Frazzled2207 · 21/06/2021 19:03

It will soon reveal itself as crackers when more of the Scottish team test positive surely.

They will be hoping this doesn’t happen until after the next game!

Frazzled2207 · 21/06/2021 19:05

And if there is video footage of him hugging the England players but not the Scottish ones, that’s quite convenient isn’t it! (For the rest of the Scottish team that is).

SimonJT · 21/06/2021 19:06

@Frazzled2207 Lots of changing rooms are either closed, or limited capacity. We can have six people in ours at a time.

This is euro 2020! Where do you think they go at half time!!

1happyhippie · 21/06/2021 19:09

Surely the whole of the Scotland team would have sat on the team bus together?
Or does that not count?

It doesn’t make any sense at all. I’m sure the Scotland manager was hugging Gilmour when he came of the pitch, along with many of his team mates!
Worlds gone mad!
