Why are Mount and Chilwell isolating but none of the Scotland squad?

Billy Gilmour has Covid (excellent Scottish football players) none of the Scottish team apparently are close contacts, but two England players are?

@Frazzled2207 Their changing rooms will be far bigger than ours, ours is tiny.

Regulus · 21/06/2021 19:18

@1happyhippie

Surely the whole of the Scotland team would have sat on the team bus together? Or does that not count?

It doesn’t make any sense at all. I’m sure the Scotland manager was hugging Gilmour when he came of the pitch, along with many of his team mates!
Worlds gone mad!

He definitely did hug the manager, and some of his team mates. And I've seen the table tennis video. It is disingenuous at best.

I thought the same. The bus, the changing room, the hotel. Claiming there are no close contacts from the Sctoland team is bullshit. Confused

Even so, why are the opposition, who barely kept up with him, isolating?

ok fair point. But can you really believe there was no close contact between ANY of the team at any time in the 48h up to him testing positive.
I mean if it were the case it would be disastrous for the scottish team. But it's yet another example of one rule for them and another for the rest. Tens of thousands are allowed at wembley yet we're not able to have a socially distanced sports day for our own kids.

Regulus · 21/06/2021 19:45

But it's yet another example of one rule for them and another for the rest and don't forget the blanket ban Sturgeon has enforced on the Manchester area (whilst conveniently forgetting Dundee rates) Plebs can't travel

yet we're not able to have a socially distanced sports day for our own kids see above, only plebs can't

There is a video in the Daily Mail of the three of them hugging, bit of a farce really, they will probably do those daily tests like Gove did conveniently on a trial when he was a contact

Frazzled2207 · 21/06/2021 23:03

Southgate has just admitted he doesn’t understand why the rest of the Scottish team don’t have to isolate (but doesn’t want an even more difficult situation for their team)
@Frazzled2207 Lots of changing rooms are either closed, or limited capacity. We can have six people in ours at a time.
Grin

This is the Euro's - not some after school shed to change in.

PrincessScarlett · 21/06/2021 23:16

It's bloody ridiculous! You can't tell me that the Scottish team are not a bubble. They train together, travel together, share a hotel together, socialise together, are in a dressing room together and yet there has been no close contact.

I'm annoyed that 2 whole year groups in my local school are having to self isolate because a child in each year group tested positive and yet the same covid rules do not appear to apply to footballers. Parents are already on the edge having endured several self isolations from school and it's unfair that it's one rule for one and another rule for the other.

He was practically licking his face with joy after they drew 0-0
MiaMc · 21/06/2021 23:44

I’d love to know, this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!
There are photos online of him clearly hugging teammates during/after the game. Why aren’t they isolating as well?
I hope this doesn’t turn out to be because of how the circumstances were presented to PHE.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 22/06/2021 00:05

It's crazy - there was obviously some illicit meet up with the Chelsea players after the game/on Saturday.
How school kids have to isolate & footballers don't is beyond me. Must be part of Michael Gove's I'm very special and important so I'm on a trial where you don't have to isolate.....
Hope Billy Gilmour is OK though.

Heard on the news this morning that the England camp are in talks with PHE to see if the 2 can still play tonight. If they do, that is a massive fuck you to everyone who has followed the rules and done the right thing

Agree, but no more so than the big fuck you from the Scotland camp.

Feel sorry for the Scottish player who is positive but am bloody raging that the entire team is apparently 'not a close contact' while tens of thousands of school kids are sent home.

Well considering several Scotland players and their manager were also witnessed hugging him after the match I would say there has already been a massive fuck you to those who follow the rules. Not to mention the video of table tennis that mysteriously disappeared.
BonnieDundee · 22/06/2021 19:18

Agree about the Scotland team . There was definitely "close contact " there

this article fits in with some of the thoughts here (1 rule for us, another for them).
