Has tested positive since the England match, no one he played with apparently is a close contact, so with all the training, hugging, shaking hands etc that doesn't constitute a close contact Confused

This is just beyond a joke now.

It's a bloody joke ... meanwhile in the real world children playing football with their mates have to self-isolate for 10 days as a CC when one tests positive.

Piggywaspushed · 21/06/2021 14:04

To be fair, the same thing happens in grassroots football. DS had two cases in his football team and track and trace didn't call anyone. Football clubs are considered 'covid secure'. God knows how or why.

NotSoLongGoodbye · 21/06/2021 14:11

@Piggywaspushed
whereas in our area DS friends football club did have to self isolate after a positive case ...

Suspect it s maybe more a case of make it up as they go along.

One of ds friends is only just out of self isolation due to a positive case in the opposition team.

Excellent! Can my year 13 and her year group have their Prom reinstated now if they all promise to wear a football kit instead of a dress?
I'd say that if the prom is taking place outside with minimal contact with others then it's fine otherwise it's a totally spurious comparison

That's one a universal rule by any means, I know of 2 clubs for certain that haven't asked other players to isolate for a positive test and one of those clubs is a stickler for the rules.

In neither case were there any other positive cases

Arrrrggghh · 21/06/2021 14:28

I agree this is completely inconsistent and wrong. They all pile in the changing rooms and take a bath together too!! If that’s not close contact I don’t know what is!

Also they are looking at ‘exceptions’ for UEFA cronies and those with money to travel from europe for the Euros semi finals and final at Wembley, without quarantine.

It really is an utter joke and for the first time since this whole business began, I’m saying haha no thanks, to any more restrictions. It really is one rule for the elite and another for the common person

UncomfortableSilence · 21/06/2021 14:32

Apparently two of his teammates have deleted their Instagram stories from last night as it showed them together Angry

Well hardly, considering they’ve all been together in school in their year group ‘bubble’, minimal social distancing (because there simply isn’t room), no face masks for a few weeks now and then all crammed into the school bus - with other year groups - at the end of the day. If that's ‘safe’ as the government has been telling us - schools are totally safe - for months now, then a prom, with only their year group bubble, is safe too.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 21/06/2021 14:40

@newnortherner111

The England team are not close contacts, they practiced social distancing during the game and never got near him!
😂😂

Even though I'm very cross about this you have just made me laugh Grin
ifonly4 · 21/06/2021 14:59

It'd be interesting to know if they've been spaced in locker/changing rooms.

Right, and it would have been valid if you'd used that comparison but saying that a school prom should go ahead because the Euros are doesn't make any sense. How are they in anyway comparable?
anewpost · 21/06/2021 15:21

That's why it's all a farce. You should not be so proud of yourselves for 'having stuck to every single rule'.
It's all BS. Prime example. Do your thing and live your life

anewpost · 21/06/2021 15:23

And don't go around accusing people living their life for being at fault of lockdowns etc. That's what the government want you to do. Don't fall for it.

Divide and conquer

jennywasafriendofmrbrightside · 21/06/2021 15:30

They won't have been socially distanced in the locker room at half time!

The whole team should now be isolating according to the rules, just like thousands of school children up and down the country due to 'incidental contact' with a confirmed positive case.

But of course football is more important than children and money talks - what an absolute f'ing disgrace Angry

Baileysforchristmas · 21/06/2021 15:39

Stop testing your healthy children, turn off track and trace and enjoy the summer out socialising as much as you can.

Dd didn't have to self isolate when one of her rugby team tested positive, only those who had sat on the same table at the post match pub trip

Even if they technically were, do you really think that stops them from getting close to each other when talking, hugging after they've won etc.? It's a joke
AutoGroup · 21/06/2021 16:29

Outdoors doesn't count. Test and trace have no interest in any contact at my running club, for example, because it's all outdoors. So the opposition wouldn't be close contacts.

Then amongst the squad indoors they should will be social distancing. Which is the same as in school. It's assumed that teachers and students are always 2m apart so they don't count as close contacts for each other, regardless of the reality. Although early on in the pandemic schools were being much more cautious and were asking groups to isolate who wouldn't be asked to now.
