Just got a text to self isolate after being in close contact last week with a positive case.

I had Covid in November and am double jabbed.....what is the chuffing point?!!!

I actually asked the T&T people why I have to self isolate and was told "because you need to protect the people who have chosen to not have the vaccine and to stop the spread". I also asked whether irrespective of vaccines would everyone have to self isolate until the end of time. They couldn't answer me.

I just genuinely don't understand. The rest of the household doesn't have to isolate as we have absolutely no symptoms, but I do school drop off and pick up due to DH working 12 hour shifts, so now my perfectly healthy DD can't go to school....for absolutely no reason.

Am I alone in my thinking???

@Temp023

To be fair I have tried to get the app to work but I gave up when I was meant to use it outside a cafe, sitting meters away from anyone. I thought, what if T&T rings me and says you have to isolate because someone outside the cafe had Covid., bollocks to that.
I had the exact thought last week. Sat outside a cafe, more than 2m away from anyone, but later panicked I might get traced if someone inside the cafe was positive! It's put me off going anywhere. I've heard several people now say they are just taking a photo of the QR code, not actually checking in.

Just don’t do it. I wouldn’t.

mibbelucieachwell · 20/06/2021 22:56

You've been infected and had a vaccine so your chance of becoming reinfected and transmitting is tiny.

Roonerspismed · 20/06/2021 22:59

The whole thing is nonsensical now.

@SunbathingDragon

Over 50 of my colleagues at a local hospital have been double jabbed and tested positive for the delta variant. That’s the point.
Really sobering thought. Hope they haven't been too badly affected and are recovering well.

The official line I got from T&T is tough, you could catch a different variant.

I am one day out of my 14 days incubation period and my kid is positive. They don’t care that it’s probably me who gave her it. I’m fucking locked up again.

Sounds crazy to me Maybe you need to block this caller or delete the app It’s enough to give me the heebie jeebies

Text message gives you a link to log on to to ask some general health questions giving you a reference to log in with. I didn't and then the phone calls happened. I eventually answered as I was getting annoyed! There must be some link up from the text to the website. I'm assuming if I had gone on the site I wouldn't have got a call.[/quote]
Do you usually answer unknown numbers?
I don’t
They might be scammers

Never thought of all of that.

@shewalkslikerihanna

As I had received the text I was expecting a call. When the call came through with the number displayed I googled it and it was quite obviously T&T. Don't answer normally!

I think this will be reviewed when we get to the point where we've got enough vaccinated and can keep numbers at a low even level.

Not sure I like the wording, "you need to protect people who have chosen to not have the vaccine". I understand some have genuinely can't have it now/in the future and I feel for them, but I certainly didn't have the vaccine to protect those that choose not to - I had it to protect myself, my family, friends and other like minded people. Those who chose not to have the vaccine, will have to continue being careful or take their chances. This comment comes from someone who really had to get her head around having the vaccine, I had it and for me it's the best thing I did as I can't carry on living like this.
