Pub say someone who visited the pub has since tested positive. Surely they don’t close pubs because of one case? It must be more?

Schools have extra cleaners in before school, during school and after school

Seems that scientists are now agreed that whilst you CAN still catch it off a surface, the risk is very, very small

Can you post a link to that? Because my understand is that It grows on surfaces in lab conditions but is so delicate that it dies on touch. And you’d not be able to pick enough of it up by touching a surface even if didn’t.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/feb/28/clean-break-the-risk-of-catching-covid-from-surfaces-overblown-experts-say

a couple of examples. So a tiny risk of infection from surfaces, most likely to be transmitted through the air. So people saying 'it's ONLY airborne' aren't quite right.

I really feel for small businesses having to play this ridiculous game. How much is a full carpet shampoo for the whole premises going to cost?! And it's absolutely pointless.

Fair enough if they have to close because staff are isolating but the "deep clean" bullshit needs to end

newnortherner111 · 20/06/2021 10:52

I think the pub may not be telling everything, which may be to protect some confidentiality.

But that’s not the deep clean that requires the whole place to shut down for two days is it?.

Spinningaround21 · 20/06/2021 14:33

Lots of bars/cafes etc in Manchester have closed recently either due to staff covid cases or staff isolationg and not being able to operate. I thought public health ( not NHS) only get involved if it looks like an outbreak has stemmed from a premises.

Guess got to be seen as doing something..cleaning surfaces I get as people touch them even if seems uncertain if can catch it that way but the carpet?! Maybe it just needed a good clean? How can you catch it from carpet..who is touching the carpet lol.
