If you've refused a vaccine, would you mind answering some questions?

This comes from a conversation I had this afternoon. I'm interested in people's views if they have refused the Covid jab - I'm not talking about people who have a medical reasons for not being vaccinated, eg you're in the middle of chemo or you've been advised not to by your doctor, but just those people who've been offered the vaccination but don't want to take it up.

1 Do you think the UK should be sending vaccines to third world countries?
2 If you were in India at the height of the pandemic, would you have accepted a vaccine?
3 Would you accept a vaccine if you found it restricted your lifestyle otherwise (eg you couldn't fly anywhere or go to a theatre/gig)?
4) Would you be happier if your elderly parents or other high risk relatives were vaccinated?
5) How do you think the pandemic can be resolved safely without a vaccine?

Sorry for so many questions - nobody to chat to about this at the moment and it came up in conversation with a relative who doesn't want to have the vaccine.

@Mymapuddlington

Vaccine fund was created before they even offered the vaccines. The government website says you’ll get 120k from damage caused by the vaccine.
The vaccine damage payment was started in the 1970s and applies to all the standard vaccines, and now the covid vaccines. It’s not specific to covid.

If I was 65 with a heart condition I would take the risk, at early 30s, the risk doesn't seem sensible I agree with you, but the govt expect you to take the risk with your health in order to give the elderly and vulnerable more protection. You are being asked to potentially sacrifice your future health for the sake of those who are older and/or in poor health.
Exactly, which doesn't seem fair on me, I've not given in to pressure from others. I just trust my own body and the risk of mortality for my age is 0.02% just doesn't make sense to risk putting a new vaccine, with no long term knowledge of side effects into my body.

I'm also dettered due to the lack of data released by pharmaceutical companies and what protocols they've used. Data is lacking compared to normal trials... we must just simply trust them.

My perspective is, the world is taking part in a massive experiment and I hope it doesn't back fire.

I'm not anti-vaxx either, I've had all my vaccines and would happily take other longer tested vaccines, for example yellow fever vaccine, if I was going aboard.

I wouldn't be a client if the person in that role hadn't been vaccinated

@HollowTalk, do you feel just as strongly that the client must be vaccinated to protect your relative? If not, why not?

In response to Xioxio. 2 people blood clots, 1 a life changing disability and 1 very hopefully getting better. Really hoping for the best.

I know two people who had strokes after AZ - one in his 20s with underlying issues and one in her 30s with no issues.

I know another woman who collapsed.

All three of these people were told they must have had epilepsy for the first time in their lives.

All three had recently had the AZ vaccine. I guess they must be the ‘terrible odds’ too. Hmm

I do not have a wide network. I’d spend less time on MN if I did!

It will be interesting to read the stats in a couple of years.

I suspect the data will have been heavily massaged so as to conceal anything which might make the government look bad

Yes, of course I do. I think they shouldn't take on clients who haven't been vaccinated and they should be vaccinated themselves.

For example, if the spike protein isn’t stable and settles in places such as the brain, what happens? I’m also concerned about the use of nanoparticles as the injecting medium with the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine. Again, unknown, and my concern is long term
neurological issues

@Roonerspismed

This is the problem - random crap being regurgitated on social media and other places. No one should be forced into taking a vaccine they're not comfortable with, but people should be making that decision based on evidence not misinformation.

The spike protein does not "settle" anywhere. The immune system degrades it. There is no biological mechanism for long term neurological side effects regarding this or other vaccines, it's not something that remains in your body.

HollowTalk · 17/06/2021 23:43

@speckledostrichegg Don't you just love how many people who clearly got a grade C max in GCSE Science suddenly know all there is to know about viruses and vaccines?

We do not have long-term data on the covid vaccines
this is not misinformation, this is fact

speckledostrichegg · 17/06/2021 23:49

no ones has debating that or said it's misinformation?

the vaccine were rolled out last year, of course it's not possible to have longer term data than that

PolkadotSloth · 18/06/2021 00:15

Right. So you won't get vaccinated unless somebody provides information that you admit does not exist??Grin
