Just seeing if most school Proms been cancelled now.
My ds school not said so yet- but I have warned him to brace himself for disappointment. He is convinced his school will get round it. I am not so sure though know they will try their very best for year 11.
What is happening in other schools?
Thanks.

Yes, my parents are dealing with it and truly we are going to get results against them because for what they have done is disgusting and for them to exclude a child because them and their family have a disagreement with the school is really vile.

I am concentrating on my future for now :)

My daughters school has just cancelled their prom. A week before it was due to take place. They put the tickets on sale after the easing of restrictions was delayed. It was in the school grounds, in a marquee.
I'm so bloody fed up with this. Aside from the costs involved, the kids were really looking forward to it.

May I ask was the school private or state? As I think for some reason that private schools are getting away with throwing proms etc, because of independent policy etc. However the majority of pupils which go to state schools are having their proms cancelled?

DinkyDaisy · 01/07/2021 16:22

I think many state schools have also cancelled their Proms.
So far, my son's is not cancelled. [State].
However, I will only believe it is going ahead once he is there!
His major worry is being isolated for some reason as has an enrichment activity the day before.
His Prom is outdoors, at the school.

Actually I think it is the opposite, certainly round here. The year 11 and year 13 proms are generally held with dates from other private schools ie: the boys school invites the girls school and vice versa. All these have been cancelled or postponed. The schools have replaced proms with in-school, year group parties. Prize givings moved to on-line. All a bit grim really.

My ds had his Prom - yay!
The weather worked against it but seems like they all had a good time.
Good luck to all who have Proms to come...
[and sorry to those who have cancelled ones...]

My daughters is on the 20th. They have had their first massive ourbreak last week. Not sure what to do as teachers are ill too.

DinkyDaisy · 11/07/2021 06:06

Sorry about the outbreak.
Are they confirmed cases?
Contact isolation was what worried my ds. They were all encouraged to do LFT tests and it was tense waiting to see if any came up positive. It is likely some year 11s did not do them as not compulsory...
The school worked hard to make the Prom happen, within guidelines, but a positive case would have scuppered it.
Let's hope your daughters goes ahead.
I know it means such a lot to all as dresses and suits etc bought...

My ds biggest fear however, was that it went ahead and he was isolated!
I do understand that!

Sorry to those who have had proms and other events cancelled.

I think its pretty disgusting that we can have 10s of 1000s of people in the crowd for the football final, but not 100 kids (who are already a "cohort" bubble) spending an evening together.

DinkyDaisy · 11/07/2021 06:18

Agreed ChocOrange1
For Prom to work under guidelines schools have to almost perform magic tricks and think very hard!
My ds's Prom at school and mostly based outside [Gazebos in the dodgy weather!].
They were lucky, and it all went smoothly despite everything.
All the sports crowds piss me off...
