Just that! I know it’s speculating and anything could happen but I’m feeling so worried about my second dose this week (I’ll definitely get it, just looking for hope!).

I had my first dose 7 weeks ago and the side effects were awful for me. Fever, chills, headache, nausea, utter exhaustion, I couldn’t do anything other than lie in bed. Then after about 4 days this settled to waves of exhaustion and nausea and brain fog fog which lasted around a week. I could potter at home but not work properly.

I’ve been fine since, but people keeping telling me that the second dose side effects are worse with Pfizer. I’ve too much going on to write 2 weeks off, and am just a bit worried!

Yes. Very similar to you after dose one. Mildly tired for a couple of hours after dose two.

EarlyApple · 13/06/2021 19:19

Thanks @Motorina - that’s what I needed to hear!

Mine were better with the second dose.

whiteroseredrose · 13/06/2021 20:50

Me too. Awful headache after first vaccine. Nothing but a sore arm after my second.

Bargebill19 · 13/06/2021 20:56

Yes. Second one was a breeze.

EarlyApple · 13/06/2021 21:21

Thanks people! Reassuring to know that this is a possibility.

My Ed has just her second one, Pfizer, and is feeling really rough after it. She was a bit run down after the first one, but does seem worse after this one.

forinborin · 13/06/2021 21:41

Yes, had exactly this. Splitting headaches after the first, nothing apart from a sore arm / bruise after the second.

StayCalm99 · 13/06/2021 21:42

If you get sick after the first pfizer vaccine you had covid. So it's like the second for you. You'll be fine after the second because you don't really need the second vaccine.

fitflopqueen · 13/06/2021 21:42

Yes second one was much improved on the first, just a bit achy and sore arm. First one floored me.

Jeffjefftyjeff · 13/06/2021 21:44

I was better after second. Just I’ll (v tired and headache) for 1 afternoon 2nd time round

Yep, had a nasty cough and breathlessness back in March 2020
concretejungle · 13/06/2021 22:10

I only had a sore arm after the first. Had the second last week abs had a sore arm. I might have vent a bit tired, but could also be because I didn't sleep well 🤷‍♀️. Good luck!

EarlyApple · 13/06/2021 22:36

@StayCalm99 that’s interesting . One of my children was quite ill for a long time with what the paediatricians he was referred to thought (having ruled out a lot of other things) was probably Covid / long Covid, but her test right at the start of her illness had been negative. Another of my children had been self isolating when she got ill due to a case in his class at the time and had been tired & had a strange rash, but nothing to justify a test. Adults were fine, but we’ve always wondered.... I’ve definitely not had symptomatic Covid though.

After the first I had headaches and jet lag style tiredness for weeks. After the second, nothing, not even a sore arm.

I was dreading the second one because of how worn out I was after the first but It was fine.

EarlyApple · 13/06/2021 22:42

Thanks so much to all who have offered reassurance! I do feel a bit less stressed about it now!

OP posts:
EarlyApple · 13/06/2021 22:45

(That’s “ she was referred to” in my post above. Sorry, not terribly clear: DD was ill while DS was self isolating. DD was 5, and slept in my bed for nights on end while feverish, so I was a bit Hmm about the Covid theory, as I didn’t ever get sick. But I guess it’s possible and maybe the vaccine reaction backs it up).

I felt rubbish with my first, ok with second though.

Twilightstarbright · 14/06/2021 08:07

DollyParton2 · 14/06/2021 08:58

Can I ask what might be a really stupid question please?! I had first dose Pfizer and just logged in to book my 2nd dose. The test centre I had first dose no longer showing so booked another. Does the system know which of the vaccines you had first time so will only offer centres which would have in my case Pfizer for my 2nd? Or is it not that sophisticated? Could I turn up and they only have Astra? Thanks!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 14/06/2021 09:11

@Staycalm99

where did you get that info from, please? is it the result of a medical research/study or just hearsay?
if that former would you provide a link please?
if the latter I'd just prefer to know. thanks

This is comforting. I am nearly 3 weeks after my first and have what you described so was worried about the second.
Haffiana · 14/06/2021 09:57

Yes. Bad 48 hours after the first and only a sore arm after the second.

AnyFucker · 14/06/2021 09:59

Yes. Really rubbish after the first. Just slightly rubbish after the 2nd.

EarlyApple · 14/06/2021 11:58

Thanks to everyone who has offered reassurance Smile

(@DollyParton2, I’m in Scotland and the system knows which vaccine you had and only offers Pfizer clinics. Assume NHS England / Wales / NI will be the same if that’s where you are?!)
