Has anyone moved their Pfizer to less then 12 weeks?

Just curious really. I’m pregnant and don’t have my second dose until the end of August. Obviously getting worried now especially having secondary school aged children.

A local hospital (wales) had a walk in Pfizer clinic this weekend and they invitied everyone who had their 1st Pfizer vaccine on or before the 17th of April to go and get the second dose. My friend had hers done on the 12th of April and she went over this afternoon to get her second jab so 8 weeks 5 days instead of waiting until the full 12 weeks

In Aus you are told to get your second Phizer jab between 3-6 weeks. I'm getting my second at 5 weeks, only because I couldn't get in sooner.

Yeah in Canada it’s 2nd dose at 8 weeks but some get it after only 4-5 weeks because of some of the earlier recommendations I guess.

In the U.S., it's just two weeks.

I had my second exactly 3 weeks after the first. I’ve been volunteering in vaccine clinics and there was a spare, so I got it. I had a few days of feeling like I had flu, not unusual after Pfizer number 2, but then was fine.
Are you worrying you need it sooner?

We had ours exactly 3 weeks after the 1st. No option here. Not in the UK.

Their schools have relaxed mixed SD rules and masks are only worn in corridors and on the bus.

DH and I are both late 40s, Scotland. We have had appointments through for our second Pfizer jabs exactly 8 weeks after the first.

I'm sure initially the advice was 4 weeks between jabs and they changed it just to get more people done with their first.

Over 40's are able to bring it forward. I'm hoping they extend that to the next age bracket down if they have capacity to do so.

I was encouraged to book my second for three weeks after the first. In reality I had it about six weeks after

Over 40s can bring it forward if you cancel your second appointment and rebook (risky though). It seems like under 40s can't get, probably due to supply issues.

How pregnant are you? My Pfizer jabber and I talked through various options as I am trying. She said the vaccine isn't safe in first trimester, so if you fall pregnant between first and second jab you're supposed to wait longer.

She also said that she's not sure why everyone is rushing to have theirs when the evidence shows that the longer you leave it between the better protected you are overall. (Although I'm not sure which evidence she's pointing to, though she's certainly more knowledgeable than me).

But she definitely was saying the antibody response is better overall if you wait the 12 weeks rather than having it early.

I think though, as long as you're out of the first trimester. If you feel unsafe and want a second jab then you should definitely try to bring it forward if you want.

The UK isn’t offering shorter intervals for under 50’s atm. It might change.

However in areas where infection rates are rising (surge areas) there are variations to the national offer agreed at the direction of public health leaders. In those areas you may find offers of early second doses. Information about these offers are listed on other social media forums.

In terms of the interval and what’s best. It was originally tested at 3-4 weeks on c40k people and that was recommended by the manufacturer.

It has been used at different intervals on millions. Evidence shows better efficacy at longer intervals. But that isn’t what drives the variation in different countries or areas. Consideration needs to be given to how the vaccine can be most effectively deployed to reduce deaths and illness in a specific area.

Therefore the interval is determined at risk of infection and illness and availability of vaccine to the population.

I’m 18 weeks now. I had my first jab at 14 weeks.

I’m 39 so just miss out on being able to rebook sooner. Maybe I’ll try it and see what happens…

I had my Pfizer jab on the 18th May. They told me I would get my second between 6-8 weeks. I had it through the doctors so was unable to book my second.

I’m also mid thirties.

Unfortunately in England your GP won’t receive a supply of second dose vaccine for you until 11 weeks after your first. The only way they can guarantee giving it to you early is if people don’t show up for their second dose and they have spares. That’s why you can’t be booked in

Yes, I was able to move up the date. You have to book it through your GP though. I expressed my concern that I wanted to get the 2nd jab before my due date in mid-July. Good luck!

Yeah, had mine 5 weeks part as the GPs sent out a mass text saying if anyone needed 2nd dose to just call and book and they had immediate availability.
