Support group post second dose of AZ vaccine

Ok, I thought it would be good to have a support group for those of us who have decided to have second AZ vaccine. I had mine yesterday, didn’t really want it, but everyone I know is so blaze about blood clots I feel like right hypochondriac. I suffer with anxiety and health anxiety was my big issue even before COVID and vaccines. I have only just started relaxing after I passed 4 weeks post my first vaccine and am now on watch for symptoms again! Don’t know how I’m going to get through the next few weeks. If you are like me please join and share your thoughts!

I had my 2nd dose yesterday and have not experienced any side effects so far. Arm was immediately sore after first dose but nothing after 2nd dose. It's been less than 24 hrs post 2nd dose but feeling good. I had chills and muscle aches with sore arm after first dose. DH had his 2nd dose at the same time and he's fine too. Both AZ.

Jabbinell · 17/06/2021 22:21

How is everyone doing that HAS Hmm had their second dose doing this week?
I’m almost on day 7. Can’t wait for the next week to fly by, sad or what?!

NightmareLoon · 17/06/2021 22:31

Had my 2nd dose 12 days ago. Almost 4 weeks after my 1st I had a weird/persistent headache and got sent to A&E to be checked out. They took it really seriously and didn't call me hypochondriac and I felt really reasurred and cared for. (Obviously everything was ok) Still wary but know I'm in good hands if something goes awry.

Bubalie · 17/06/2021 22:44

7 days for me. Doing ok but just nightmare counting days. Do we even know what timescale is for blood clots after the second dose? I keep thinking I’ve got another 3 weeks to go 😫

Op, seven days for me tomorrow, awful headache today but I'm thinking that's time of month.
I thought ten days post jab was peak clot risk?

SirVixofVixHall · 17/06/2021 22:53

I am on day 15. Definitely feeling better the last two or three days although I have been tired again today. I feel more normal now apart from this slight lingering tiredness.
Feels a long wait still until the clot risk lifts though !

Bubalie · 17/06/2021 22:56

@ICanSmellSummerComing does headache go if you take paracetamol? I have such health anxiety now I’m literally counting the days and hoping I don’t get any set backs as wouldn’t know how to deal with!

OP posts:
ICanSmellSummerComing · 17/06/2021 22:58

Yes it is does lesson, is it that the test!

Bubalie · 17/06/2021 22:58

@SirVixofVixHall you are a week ahead of us, hang in there you are almost in clear! 🤣 I am tired too, but not sure if that is due to this horrible muggy weather, my worrying and waking up at night or vaccine side effects. I think it’s bit of everything!

@ICanSmellSummerComing I’m pretty sure I read somewhere where it says if the headache doesn’t go with the paracetamol to seek advice. Apparently it’s quite bad headache with these VITT cases.

Had my first in April and was rough for a few days after however four weeks in I had the worst headaches I've ever had.

Paracetomol and codiene didn't shift them just filled them abit and then I woke up one morning and they'd gone and touch wood haven't had anymore but after reading on mn I've seen lots commenting on headaches a few weeks in.

I've had a text to say I can rebook from now for my second dose and although I know I need to do it I've been petrified of the headaches coming back again because I start panicking (ptsd and health anxiety sufferer )

Glad to read you are all doing fine after yours

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 17/06/2021 23:03

Forgot to add it also turned out I had an ear infection which coincided with the headaches

ICanSmellSummerComing · 17/06/2021 23:08

Yes the weather doesn't help, disrupted sleep due to the heat etc all colliding at once.

Jabbinell · 18/06/2021 08:27

@NightmareLoon glad they looked after you well.

I’m sure I read day 10-14 is peak danger zone too, but has anyone got any links to this info?

No headaches here but I am very anxious, every twinge in my body worries me, ridiculous I know. I’m considering wasting money I don’t have on a myriad of blood tests as I did after 1st dose. I curse the government!

Chillychangchoo · 18/06/2021 08:30

5 days post second AZ. Aged 32, defo feeling anxious about the clot risk. Yes has anyone got any links for the peak danger period? I did hear it was 10 days.

BarberQueue · 18/06/2021 10:05

I had my second dose one week today. Unfortunately I then cut myself on a rusty nail last weekend which was really bad timing and had to have a tetanus jab (and diphtheria and polio as it is combined) They have no safety data on mixing other vaccines with AZ so feeling very anxious but my risk of tetanus was higher than my risk of a clot. Feel absolutely exhausted this week but I think that's probably a combination of the weather and my immune system working overtime responding to four vaccines.

BlackInk · 18/06/2021 13:24

I had my 2nd AZ on Saturday (6 days ago now). I had flu-like symptoms for 24 hours after the first dose followed by feeling rougher than usual for a few days.
This time around I felt fine initially but have had horrible headaches with head pressure and stabbing head pain the past couple of days. It's uncomfortable not unbearable and paracetamol has helped a bit today so trying not to worry. I don't know at what point a headache should get checked out after AZ... I do tend to suffer from headachey spells normally so hoping it's just that.

This is what my leaflet after second jag said about more dangerous side effects -

Hamilbamil · 18/06/2021 13:42

He had to have 3 days off school with a sore arm when he first had the flu vaccine, so will see how he gets on.

3 days for a "sore arm" post vaccine? Sounds like skiving to me Hmm

Oaktree55 · 19/06/2021 09:25

Had second dose Monday, minimal side effects compared to first but absolutely wiped out yesterday and today. Total exhaustion. Anyone else have this?

Kaylasmum49 · 19/06/2021 14:38

I'm on day 16 and still worrying. Saying that though, I worry about absolutely everything!

MiniMaxi · 19/06/2021 15:06

I’ve found my people! Haha.

On day 16 post second dose. Have been feeling much more relaxed than I thought I would, with a few blips. The weekly reports don’t especially help but I’m trying to stay focused on the relatively low and stable rate of VITT after second doses.

Have decided I will refuse any more AZ (or J&J) boosters etc though.

MiniMaxi · 19/06/2021 15:07

PS have had a headache pretty much all week but it feels like my normal tension headaches and does go away with paracetamol

MiniMaxi · 19/06/2021 15:08

@Chillychangchoo I believe it’s days 4-14 that it’s most likely to occur but yes have heard on here the peak is day 10 ish

Chillychangchoo · 19/06/2021 16:24

Thanks. Have a right headache today (6 days post second AZ) it’s not being relieved by paracetamol but it doesn’t feel severe. Hopefully by tomorrow it’s passed.

I hate this worrying :(
