Pfizer vaccine questions

Babyfg · 05/06/2021 18:36

Hi. I was just wondering what symptoms people have had after their first and second jab?

I've been called up for mine and am assuming it will be Pfizer as I'm under 40 and just want to prepare myself. I have three under 5 so need a plan just in case!

Also has anyone got the vaccine while breastfeeding? Is it recommended? Did it affect baby?

Sorry for all the questions but tia ❤️

I had a sore arm and was really tired for a few days after both of mine but it could have been co-incidental because I do have bouts of extreme tiredness anyway because of RA

MimsyBorogroves · 05/06/2021 19:28

First one - sore arm, tiredness on the night and chills, then the next night absolute insomnia.

Second one - injection site swelled and bruised. Arm hurt (obviously). Lasted about 4 days.

TheresWaldo · 05/06/2021 19:29

I felt a bit meh after both mine. Not ill exactly, but heavy and tired, bit of brain fog. The first one was worse - felt like I was wading through treacle for 24 hours. DH was fine with first and felt fluey for a day or 2 after the 2nd.

allgoodthings84 · 05/06/2021 19:44

I had my first 2 weeks ago today. I was fine on the Saturday but the next day (Sunday) I was so poorly! My whole body ached so bad I could hardly move and then the next day (Monday) the nausea hit and it was worse than when I was pregnant! It wasn’t until the Thursday that I felt normal again. I’m dreading my second dose. Some people say that people who have had covid are more likely to get bad after so makes me wonder if I had a completely asymptomatic case at some point as I haven’t even had a cold since 2019

Babyfg · 05/06/2021 19:47

Thank you for all your responses. I'm just so worried about it wiping me out as we don't have a lot of support (which I know is also true if we were to catch COVID which we've been lucky to avoid so far). I can deal with a bit of brain fog and sore arm though so thank you for your responses.

The breastfeeding is making my husband a bit anxious as he's worried about the baby and I don't know enough to know whether he's right to be anxious or not 🤦‍♀️

Nothing after first jab. Headache for 2 weeks after second - had 2 days off work. Fine now.

Boo2012 · 05/06/2021 19:51

My partner had Pfizer on Monday. He had a bit of a sore arm much more sore than why I had with Astra Zeneca. But he's been fine otherwise, he has been trolley himself apart from the sore arm.

I was told that usually with Pfizer you are fine with the first but could feel ill with the second. With AZ much more likely to get ill with the first and fine the second. Saying that, I had no side effects after my first dose of AZ but felt wiped out and tired with my second. All depends.

Being under 40 you will almost definitely be given Pfizer.

Boo2012 · 05/06/2021 19:52

Totally not trolley 😂

partyatthepalace · 05/06/2021 19:58

Very slightly sore arm for 2 days with the first one.

About eight hours of mildly coldy-flu symptoms on day two with the second one.

partyatthepalace · 05/06/2021 19:59

Oh and a tiny head rush that evening both times. That was quite fun!

Ring your GP/practice nurse to discuss re breastfeeding - they will know

irresistibleoverwhelm · 05/06/2021 20:01

I had my first dose recently and had a really really sore arm (couldn’t touch it or lie on it) - but this disappeared completely within 24 hours. Otherwise felt tired but not dramatically so. I’ve known others to range from having no side effects at all to being wiped out, nauseous and headachy for a week! (Though the latter much rarer than the former.)

Cttontail · 05/06/2021 20:02

You getting the jab will be good for your baby - you will pass on the antibodies that you make against SARS-CoV-2 in your breastmilk.

AIMummy · 05/06/2021 20:04

Sore arm and fatigue for 24 hours (have had covid previously). My partner and I had the vaccine on different days so the vaccinated one could rest and the other could take over for childcare. Could your partner take the next day off work for childcare and wake you up when baby needs a feed?

tedsletterofthelaw · 05/06/2021 20:07

I had no side effects at all after first dose which I had on Monday. Sore arm for a little while but that's it

Lightningrain · 05/06/2021 20:08

I had a sore arm from a few hours later but it was barely noticeable by the end of the following day. DP and a friend who had it the same week were he same. No other effects.

I only know of one person who had Pfizer with worse symptoms that a sore arm (very tired and nausea for 3 days) but most of my family and friends that had AstraZeneca seem to have suffered a lot more.

bookh · 05/06/2021 20:10

Had it Tuesday, nothing at all.

Breastfeeding a five month old, combination fed but BF all night. Nothing different win her at all.

I actually was wiped with both flu and whooping cough vaccines when pregnant. This one I wouldn't even know I had it.

ThursdayLastWeek · 05/06/2021 20:14

Sore arm for 48 hrs, fuzzy headed for 24hrs and more tired than normal for approx 5 days.

I’ve only had the first jab so far.

Polkadotties · 05/06/2021 20:17

Slightly sore arm near injection site, no different to any other vaccine ive had

Roussette · 05/06/2021 20:20

I suffer with flu jab and pneumonia jab (am over 65 hence pneumonia jab)

Was concerned because of this but.....

No effects to speak of. Nothing like the pneumonia jab which literally had me in bed for over 24 hours and an arm that was scarlet red unbelievably so

Mild headache with first. Nothing with second.

Migraine for a week after, that was fun. Diarrhoea for about 5 days. That was the first jab.

BeaMinus · 05/06/2021 20:35

Just a sore arm (not too bad) for dh and I.

Lockheart · 05/06/2021 20:48

I had mine at 10am this morning. As of now, nothing except a sore arm when I move it. It's not swollen or sore to the touch, just when I move my arm.

I had my first dose of Pfizer a week ago, on a Saturday afternoon. I had a slightly sore arm and felt shivery and cold for a few hours that evening.

On the Sunday I felt knackered, but I have an 18 month old DS who currently wakes up with the sun Hmm so hard to know if it was the vaccine or my normal level of tiredness catching up with me.

By Monday morning I felt completely normal again.
