What to do if you don't agree with being told to self isolate??

Colleague of DHs has tested positive and provided DHs details to track and trace as a close contact. However, he doesn't meet the criteria for close contact - he hasn't been under 1m, and not within 2m for more than a couple of minutes. We are supposed to be going away this weekend! What do we do? Has anyone been in this position?

@osbertthesyrianhamster

I don't give a fuck about the 'irresponsible' 'selfish' blether anymore, either.

T&T just sent me a form to fill in, I could have put a load of people's names on there if I want, causing people to 'legally isolate.' I never got a phone call at all from T&T, even during my whole period of isolation.

gottakeeponmovin · 03/06/2021 19:32

I would ignore it

BlueDucky · 03/06/2021 19:41

If you go on the gov website to request a test you can get one if you are a close contact of someone with a positive test. You still have to isolate though.

@Brefugee

It will never end at all because it's a respiratory virus and people breathe. It will just turn into other forms, that's what they do.

yes @osbertthesyrianhamster but what will end, eventually when the arseholes stop arseholing, is the restrictions. There really isn't that much longer to wait for that. All this "waaaahhhh i neeeeed a holiday" is tedious.

I do have sympathy for anyone who needs to work and isolation would fuck that up.

Yeah, sure, there isn't much longer to wait. The original lockdown was supposed to be 3 weeks, too. Remember that? No one does.

Got some oceanfront property in Austria to sell, too.

I would just ignore. Our rights and freedoms are being slowly eroded away. Some person can just turn you in and you get no come back or chance to explain your side. They keep out borders open whilst locking us all down for months on end. Fuck this bullshit. No more!

I feel for you @jaychops. It's just the pits. On our third isolation with the DCs here. You don't even get contact from T&T with school children. Just a letter from the school secretary saying they've been advised blah, blah, blah... cancel all your plans, cancel your entire half term etc.

Does he know for definite who it is that has tested positive? As we are not allowed to tell the contacts who the positive case is (I am a contact advisor)

Is he getting daily phone calls?
If he really thinks he isn't a contact, ask the person who is calling him every day to double check.
The tracer would have deemed who was a contact based on what the employee told him, not the employee.

We also advise people to get tested on day 2 and 8 of their isolation.

We have ways of obtaining contact details for people, and they are referred for enforcement if they don't answer their phones (someone will come to your house)

@applespearslemons I'm not sure where you're getting your information from but our test and trace in wales has just been extended. Our contracts were meant to end in March, they were extended until June and now until September.
