How long for results these days?

DD started coughing yesterday so managed to book a test for this morning at a walk in centre. Just wondering how long, on average, results are taking these days?

We all had a horrible cough/temperature/sore throat thing last week (except DH), longest result back was 12 hours. I was pretty sure by the time I got it that it wasn’t COVID, but as we were going on holiday I wanted to be on the safe side.

Hangingtrousers · 31/05/2021 12:43

Does anyone know if I should worry about lack of results after over 48 hours?

quiteathome · 31/05/2021 13:23

Negative- just came through

Officially it is within 3 days. I don't know how you chase up results though

Bubblemonkey · 31/05/2021 13:25

Has anyone had lack of taste & somehow tested negative? I’m not overly optimistic 😞 also has anyone tested in West Yorkshire recently? Turn around time?

Hangingtrousers · 31/05/2021 13:27

Honestly I'm obsessively refreshing my phone. Ds is totally fine now after being under the weather on Friday night just like toddlers are. And now the bank holiday weekend is over. 😭

WaterBottle123 · 31/05/2021 15:35

@Hangingtrousers

It's ok to call them and check progress, I probably would given it seems to be 24 hours Nationally..whereabouts are you?

IliveinDroitwich · 31/05/2021 15:38

Ds and dh had a test at 1pm Friday and didn’t get the (negative) results back until 7am Sunday morning so about 43 hours. We were disappointed to be honest as most people seem to be saying within 24 hours at the moment.

CandyLeBonBon · 31/05/2021 15:42

Dh had cold symptoms (runny nose, sneeze, cough, headache, tired) on Saturday morning. Did an LFT when the kids did theirs that morning, all were negative.
Next morning felt worse, booked PCR test at drivein centre at 11am.
Positive result texted overnight.
Rest of us told to test so went this morning. Lots of slots available, test centre almost empty, definitely more staff than cars.
(Ps he had his first jab 4 weeks ago)

WaterBottle123 · 31/05/2021 17:08

@CasparBloomberg

That's unlucky given he's been jabbed, hope he feels better soon

Whostoblame · 31/05/2021 17:47

Tested 9am yesterday, results back at 10pm. Positive but not unexpected as several positives in childcare setting had already happened. No symptoms at all

WaterBottle123 · 31/05/2021 19:23

@Whostoblame

Really hoping for this today we were tested at 9am and don't want to cancel plans tomorrow!

WaterBottle123 · 31/05/2021 19:23

Except not hoping for a positive obviously! Hope you're all well!

stuckinsideinthesun · 31/05/2021 19:44

Just got results there (negative) so that was just over 11 hours so pretty quick!

Hangingtrousers · 31/05/2021 20:15

So I called and the lady said the test hadn't been registered at the test site! I got instant results after I registered it with her. I'm so cross but glad I called.

WaterBottle123 · 31/05/2021 20:39

Yes! @stuckinsideinthesun hurrah!

Still waiting here..

WaterBottle123 · 31/05/2021 20:40

So glad you called @Hangingtrousers! All well I hope?

Hangingtrousers · 31/05/2021 20:43

Yes negative. I knew it would as dd2 had a cold earlier in the week and had a negative test so assumed the baby had caught her cold.

WaterBottle123 · 31/05/2021 20:44

Good! Yes we're all certain we have colds here too....

321zyx · 31/05/2021 20:44

Test 10am on a Sunday, text result before 7am Monday (email result was circa 1-3am) = negative.

woodfort · 31/05/2021 20:49

Hm well my last one a few weeks a go was 26 hours (negative) in London.
I was hoping for a result overnight but it came mid morning.

CuriousandReady · 31/05/2021 20:56

I tested my son last month and it was 12 hours for a negative test.

Tested at 8am this morning and no result yet. Hoping it’s soon as was due to go away for a few days starting today but my sons cough has put that to bed. Fingers crossed for a negative result over night and then we can head off on our holiday tomorrow

Thirtyrock39 · 31/05/2021 20:57

East mids here:-
Drive through a week ago was 23 hours
Postal (part of a self isolation study so was sent a pcr mid week) was 36 hours from putting in priority post box

ShonkyWonkyDonkey · 31/05/2021 20:58

6 days for mine - was negative thankfully

Thirtyrock39 · 31/05/2021 21:00

Btw my friend I was a contact of was positive a week after second jab and took two lateral flows either side of her positive pcr and both ltfs were negative!! She wasn't too poorly though
