I assume you have a basic understanding of how viruses work? How they mutate over time, and, by that reasoning, how the next variant could be the one that has a far higher transmission and death rate?

Given that COVID 19 has, so far, killed millions of people globally, do you not think that there’s a degree of sense about applying some caution when a variant has been identified - and, given the scale of transmission, yes, there will be another variant!

Dear God, if you cannot retain a sense of humour in all this, then all is lost. I have seen scarier situations than this on many occasions, and the thing that gets people through them is a sense of humour. Being dour won't bring a single person back, and it won't make anyone live longer. But be miserable and it will certainly make it feel like you are living longer
