I'm thinking perhaps the Isles of Scilly. The Scilly variant....guaranteed to spread 200% quicker than butter in death valley....

Dumpypumpy · 23/05/2021 15:34

What if it one that makes kids really poorly, that would change everything !

osbertthesyrianhamster · 23/05/2021 15:36

Close all the borders NOW! 🤣🤣🤣

RedcurrantPuff · 23/05/2021 15:38

I think it might be Germany next, they’ve put us on their shit list so need to get our own back.

SomeLovers · 23/05/2021 15:40

What a hilarious and original post, really witty Hmm The B.1.617.2 variant has killed hundreds of thousands of people and could cause a peak in hospitalisations as big as the first two waves but don’t let that stop you making your oh-so-funny little joke.

Past caring tbh even if what you say is true, which I doubt.

This thread is in extremely poor taste.

YellowPurple · 23/05/2021 15:43

How about a positive thread!

Christ sake!!!

AvoidingPandaEyes · 23/05/2021 15:44

I assume you have a basic understanding of how viruses work? How they mutate over time, and, by that reasoning, how the next variant could be the one that has a far higher transmission and death rate?

Given that COVID 19 has, so far, killed millions of people globally, do you not think that there’s a degree of sense about applying some caution when a variant has been identified - and, given the scale of transmission, yes, there will be another variant!

Some thick people believe variants are invented to scare us. Imagine being that thick !

AlmostSummer21 · 23/05/2021 15:47

Goady tripe

BeyondMyWits · 23/05/2021 15:47

The way things are going it'll be a Portugese one.

SomeLovers · 23/05/2021 15:50

It’s in the most recent SAGE meeting minutes. And as one of the poor fuckers on the frontline who have to deal with the fallout if the government once again fails to take steps to mitigate the impact of a new variant on infections rates I can assure you that though you might not care, I really, really do.

Do they?

I don’t think they are invented, but the alleged impacts are overegged and always timed to coincide with a change in restrictions

And SAGE have been right on everything have they?

“The Rocky variant”
It’s big, it’s bad, it’s common and it’s coming to a town near you!

(Said in the cinema trailer mans voice, you know the one)

Girlmama3 · 23/05/2021 15:58

I find it strange that it’s mainly us who finds them. Do other countries not test for differences?

btwwhichonespink · 23/05/2021 15:59

There are some proper sour trouts on this thread! Lighten up! After a year of this misery we're allowed to have some laughs you know. And the scariant thing is getting really silly.

My vote is for the Venus Variant. Barack talking about proof of Aliens was no coincidence, dontcha know?

Imagine! Sooooo thick. So stupid. Unintelligent. Uneducated. Lacking in critical thinking. Tin foil hat wearers.

Contrary to every single bit of evidence so far????

Dear God, if you cannot retain a sense of humour in all this, then all is lost. I have seen scarier situations than this on many occasions, and the thing that gets people through them is a sense of humour. Being dour won't bring a single person back, and it won't make anyone live longer. But be miserable and it will certainly make it feel like you are living longer

KaptainKaveman · 23/05/2021 16:04

Do those same naysayers accept the vaccine? or are they firmly committed to the belief that the entire thing is a hoax being perpetrated by The New World Order?

I'm assuming if you think it's all 'an exaggeration' then you won't be getting vaccinated?
