We are apparently a variant hotspot nothing to do with the fact we have one if the best genomic sequencing abilities worldwide and so just catch them.

I'm not sure we can be responsible for the Brazil, SA and Indian variants or the ones that originated in California etc 🤦🏼‍♀️

Variants aren't made up to scare us but the media definitely loves to make big scare headlines about TRIPLE MUTANTS and such. It's going to end up like the boy who cried wolf, finally a real nasty vaccine-evading variant does come along and everyone shrugs and says "oh yeah yeah yet another variant give it a rest".

I think if the Indian one turns out to be nothing to worry about, attention will turn to the Yorkshire variant next.

It's going to be all-in-one variant that will kill everybody. Like Ebola with transmission of Kent variant x1000.

As a Lancastrian it has to be the Yorkshire "mutant" one next.

(Variants happen. UK has most information on them due to looking for them. I'm not getting caught up in the news cycle over them either. Vaccines are working thus far. They can be tweaked for boosters. I refuse to give up joking about Yorkshire, especially as I married a tyke.)
