This is ridiculous. When hugging you generally aren't face to face at all as you tend to be looking over each other's shoulders.

My degree is civil engineering, and my only recommendations for safe hugging are

a) with the consent of the other person and
b) as often and for as long as both of you want to

I feel those are reasonable.

Have a look at some of the religious fundamentalists in America. They are only allowed to side hug until they are married! It really is a thing!

It sounds so ridiculous written down, and people won't thank them for the interference, but the most important bit of info is to limit close contact to those who really matter.

Scientists are nervous about this phase, for obvious reasons.

It's embarrassing- what's worse is that people who have been rigidly following most of the pathetic rules will also follow this 🤣
