@mustlovegin

The more information we get, the better

No need to be nasty OP

This just shows how utterly ridiculous it has all become.

Do people really want to be patronised and infantilised by being given government guidelines on who to hug and how?

Few of us go around hugging all and sundry, but if I want to hug my mother, sister and my own close family then I will, and I won't be waiting for an instruction manual to be published.

Cheekyweegobshite · 10/05/2021 10:26

It's not official government advice though, it's a scientist speaking in a personal capacity.

I am hoping for an instructional video so I can be crystal clear on the rules on how I should hug my own MamConfused

Maybe Boris will give a demonstration this evening.

I just saw mr tumble on c bee bies say 'a hug is the best medicine'. I wonder if he's holding his breath eagerly awaiting on guidance on exactly how it should be done Grin

@TinaYouFatLard

Waiting for the MN threads asking what measurement of time constitutes a short hug….

“AIBU MIL hugged DD for 4 seconds instead of 3. Shall I get a test and then go NC?” Grin

GrinGrin Thanks for that. Haven't laughed that much in ages.

Seriously, give over.
shouldistop · 10/05/2021 15:17

Ages ago, we were told how to have covid safe sex too... both wear masks and do doggy style.

What? When? How did I miss this?

shouldistop · 10/05/2021 15:21

Safest

Don't let facts get in the way of a good moan!
Triphazard101 · 11/05/2021 07:05

I liked the way it said it should only be for family and close friends as if people are likely (now its allowed!) to go and give the postman/shopkeeper/random person on the train a hug!!

Some people do try to kiss/embrace on first meeting though which I find quite Shock as a repressed uptight person Grin
Triphazard101 · 11/05/2021 07:22

I hadnt really thought of that I just imagined people going round hugging strangers at random. I am also not a fan of hugging people I've just met and hopefully clammy handshakes will be phased out as well!

Roselilly36 · 11/05/2021 07:23

Cue the next instructional video! With red x and green ticks, to make sure we get it right. When will this madness end.

picturesandpickles · 11/05/2021 07:25

Oh yes handshakes are grim. Especially when one has knowledge of how many people don't wash hands after a wee. Bleurgh.

A polite bow really makes sense IMO.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 11/05/2021 17:07

I have never liked handshaking and have always made sure to wash hands or use gel after handshake snd before touching my face etc. Also have gave had my hand crushed twice (ie yelping aloud) by an aggressive father at parents’ evening (teacher) -since then alwayshave s bandage on hand from pretend injury to avoid handshake 😀

  1. English people don't really hug other people all that much on meeting do they?
  1. Do you think hugging is a euphemism for sex?
