Whose teen has been vaccinated?

IrmaFayLear · 03/05/2021 18:33

Reading another thread, people were mentioning that their (not cev) teenagers had been vaccinated. Is this in particular areas? Leftover doses? Which vaccine?

Dd has left school and is not 18 so I wondered where this group would fall.

My 19yo ds has had both vaccinations. He's taking some time out between school and uni and working as a care assistant so had his first one before me (I'm 50).

None of his friends, and neither of my dds (17 and 21) have had it. Dd1 goes back to work in a bar/restaurant next week and I wish she could get it.

Oldowl · 03/05/2021 19:33

Both mine have had their first jab (18 and 20). They both had the AZ in Feb and March. Both work in covid related jobs- testing and vaccinating.

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2021 19:39

Not here. DS is 19 and the only friends he knows that have had them have placements for Uni in clinical settings.

starfish4 · 03/05/2021 19:52

My friend's 17 DS has been vaccinated. He lost a close member of a family to covid and his DF is ECV and qualified for that reason. He willing had it.

My 19 year old DD is desperate to have it to protect herself, family and friends and to hopefully help her get on with the life she'd had before.

canyon2000 · 03/05/2021 19:56

My friend's children, 17 and 19, have been vaccinated as he is CEV.

Rillington · 03/05/2021 20:48

My 16 and 18 year olds have been. I am CEV immunosuppressed. They were vaccinated to protect me.

Stillgoings · 03/05/2021 21:43

My 17 year old has been done to protect his CEV dad

Tomnooktoldmeto · 04/05/2021 09:23

My 17 and 18 year olds have been vaccinated, I’m CEV and they are both CV they were vaccinated in a specific clinic for 16-18 year olds booked in by the gp practice

onthemakeoronthetake · 04/05/2021 09:33

Yes, CV/CEV, both Pfizer jabs for 16yo. Both times saw other 16/17yos that they knew. Many older teens have common CV conditions like asthma, diabetes, coeliacs etc. I think most of the general population would be surprised how many 16-18 yos have been vaccinated.

onthemakeoronthetake · 04/05/2021 09:35

I mean that in a good way - it is good news for them, their families, schools and colleges, society as a whole.
Sooner to get out of this mess.
Reduced chance of lockdowns again (if we can only keep out the new variants).

Santastealer · 04/05/2021 09:36

I’m 35 and haven’t had mine yet! Work in a high risk environment (education) and still no sign of being called for one.

IrmaFayLear · 04/05/2021 09:38

So how do they get it if they have a cev parent? I have seen nothing about this anywhere.

Seasidevibes · 04/05/2021 09:43

My eldest is 16 type one diabetic with a cev sister, she was offered vaccine in February and had her 2nd jab recently. Can’t wait for my daughter who is 13 and cev to be able to have the vaccine.

Tomnooktoldmeto · 04/05/2021 09:48

@IrmaFayLear it’s not all CEV adults families that are being vaccinated, only those with specific immuno compromised states

Some people don’t grasp that anyone over 16 who are either CEV or CV are classified the same as a 40, 50 or 80 year old so are still higher risk than a healthy teacher of 35 and therefore entitled to be vaccinated in category 4 or 6

IrmaFayLear · 04/05/2021 09:53

I’m not talking about youngsters who are themselves cev, but ones who are the dcs/siblings of a cev family member.

OP posts:
IrmaFayLear · 04/05/2021 09:59

Ah, I understand you now, @Tomnooktoldmeto - it’s specific conditions.

My 18 year old has had his 1st dose. He was called by the local GP. He suffers with mental health issues and is overweight. I presume this is why? I'm very happy that he's been vaccinated.

Theforest · 04/05/2021 10:24

My friends 16 year old daughter has been vaccinated as she is asthmatic.

Comefromaway · 04/05/2021 12:29

Dd is 19 and was vaccinated as an unpaid carer.

rosie39forever · 04/05/2021 14:12

Op you need to book through your GP, my dd is 17 and had her first jab through the gp 6 weeks ago, she's classed as vulnerable but her jab was mainly to protect her CEV dad as well as herself. You ds will need to be booked for the Pfizer or moderna.

teaandcustardcreamsx · 04/05/2021 14:14

I’m 17 and was vaccinated in March as an unpaid carer/CEV family members that can’t have vaccine as too young. Was phoned up and offered it (Pfizer), though my CV friend hasn’t had her’s yet (last I heard, she’s still 16 but I had it when I was 16) Hmm were a few others my age at the vaccination centre though most 18+ I think

user68901 · 04/05/2021 15:59

My 17 year old has had Pfizer. Her Saturday job comes under social care as she works with disabled children.

Oblomov21 · 04/05/2021 21:56

My friends dd(17) has because of mums cancer.

She asked if Ds's had been offered. I said no. Diabetics weren't even considered cev, and weren't offered shielding letters, so don't get me started on how badly we've been treated. Angry

HairyPotter · 04/05/2021 22:00

My 18yr old has has both doses of Pfizer. She’s a pharmacy student and works in a Pharmacy though.

minniemomo · 04/05/2021 22:02

My just 20 year old, leftovers due to no shows, our other kids are all cv so had their in group 6
