Whose teen has been vaccinated?

Reading another thread, people were mentioning that their (not cev) teenagers had been vaccinated. Is this in particular areas? Leftover doses? Which vaccine?

Dd has left school and is not 18 so I wondered where this group would fall.

My 17 year old is CEV and has had both doses.

RedFrogsRule · 04/05/2021 22:10

My 18 yr old had the vaccine in January. She is at school but has a part time job with the NHS

She does 2 Covid tests for work and 2 for school every week. She’s fed up with that!!

choirmumoftwo · 04/05/2021 22:12

19 year old DD had first one and due second (AZ). Coeliac.

lljkk · 04/05/2021 22:18

19yo DD, left-over doses of AZ, had 2nd one weeks ago now.

WhyIsMyKitchenSoCold · 04/05/2021 22:22

DD is just 16 and has a mild well controlled chronic condition. She is having her second dose next week.

ALevelhelp · 04/05/2021 22:27

I'd like DS1 to have it, the online booking site implies he's been allocated one (probably because he's asthmatic?) but he can't book through the site and has to contact the GP.
Our GP surgery has made it very clear they don't want people calling about the vaccine so I've been holding off. He's off college now for a few weeks study leave so won't be out and about much - I'm hoping by then there may be more discussion about younger people getting it

Torvean · 04/05/2021 23:18

Apart from if your teen is CEV or works in a clinical area those in their 30s need done first. My brother only just hot his 1st he's 42 and had to travel to get it as well.

Rillington · 05/05/2021 06:42

@Torvean those living with CEV need to be a priority not healthy 30/40 year olds.

myrtleWilson · 05/05/2021 06:49

My then 17yr old had Pfizer due to her eating disorder (classed as group 6)

Torvean · 05/05/2021 06:54

Those with CEV were in the higher group regardless of health.
Plenty of 30s ,40s have health needs that the govt didn't include. Plenty of these are in public facing jobs.
So yes I think they deserve the vaccination.

TabbyStar · 05/05/2021 06:57

Mine, 18, works for NHS, she's only just turned 18 though and had to wait for Pfizer as AZ not given to under 18s. Her 19 yo BF had it because of a blood disorder.

Rillington · 05/05/2021 07:03

@Torvean it's not the teenagers who are CEV it's people in their household. I was in the shielding group. I was told I have a high chance of dying if I got it.

Healthy 30/40 year olds will get it when their turn comes. The JCVI have decided the order.

CEV person in household with severe immune issues, teens approved for jab last month when guidance changed (took quite a while to talk to a GP to get this arranged) but we're still waiting for Pfizer appointment (it's the only one licenced for u18s)

Rillington · 05/05/2021 07:20

@nether we had issues trying to get it for our DC. Our PCN leader had to contact NHS England to order extra Pfizer. They were only being supplied with enough for second doses and none for anyone new. They had them a month after it was announced.

nether · 05/05/2021 07:29

It'll be a month on Friday since approval.

I'll have to get back to the GP I think.

(Feeling surprisingly sad/emotional whilst I typed that. DC are off to school and if the jab had been available within a week or so of approval, they'd be decently protected by now)

Rillington · 05/05/2021 07:32

@nether it was 29th March it was announced. I spoke to our Clinical Lead at our Primary Care Network. He had to order 'Baby packs' of the Pfizer he said. Keep pushing it's the only way you get anything sorted I have found.

DonGray · 05/05/2021 07:37

Still waiting here - asked the GP but no response. (household member of CEV)

Imnothereforthedrama · 05/05/2021 07:39

Yes because has sen .

itsgettingwierd · 05/05/2021 07:39

I understand most of the late teen adults are getting it because they work in care work and many decided not to start uni this year and are working vaccination centres.

My 16yo ds had his first a few weeks ago due to coming under the programme as CV.

InMySpareTime · 05/05/2021 07:47

DS (19) got his for well controlled epilepsy. I assume he's deemed CV but he's just glad to be vaccinated (he survived the AZ jab with just a sore arm).

nether · 05/05/2021 07:49

Approval was 7 April. I'll ring if still no news on Friday

DanglingMod · 05/05/2021 07:54

I know several late teens who've had it - various reasons: family member of CEV (like my ds), working as carers or at vaccination centres etc in their gap year, have health conditions themselves including autism and mental health or learning disabilities.
