We are booked to go to Majorca June 22nd... Postponed by the holiday company from the same time last year.

Any hope? Hmm

(Both myself and my partner have had both vaccines and yes I would go if I was allowed to)

You'll get slated on here for even considering it ! It's because of people like YOU, that we are all locked up ! Granny killer! Covid spreader. What's wrong with an overpriced and rainy UK holiday ?! Can you not get by without going abroad for one year ??? Travel is not a 'right' you are entitled to. You will bring back a variant. I don't plan on traveling again until at least 2025.... Grin( this is not what I think, but a lot of people on here think that).. jokes aside...

I think you'll be able to go on this trip. I reckon from end of May- June time, travel will no longer be illegal. But subject to potential hotel/ home quarantine and tests - depending on where you travel to.

Have fun !

Ps: I'm definitely venturing off this island this summer.

Geamhradh · 27/04/2021 13:07

It's tentatively 21st June isn't it? I think it will be a bit sooner possibly.
Can't bloody wait.

vickibee · 27/04/2021 13:09

we are similar, booked for Lanzarote in August deferred from last summer. Mw and Dh have booth had vaccine but Ds is 14 and has not. I am not sure how this works?

First Choice have all our money from last year and we still have £600 to pay in May. It is the uncertainty that gets you down

Geamhradh · 27/04/2021 13:14

I think most places will ask you to do a test before going, for those too young to be vaccinated.

TokyoSushi · 27/04/2021 13:16

I think the end of June/beginning of July but I think there will be a lot of associated faff with it.

SpringSunshineandTulips · 27/04/2021 13:28

I thought I heard August at the earliest? But then I thought that was strange as supposedly most restrictions will be lifted by 21st June.

I guess it depends what goes on abroad in the next few weeks.

Monkeytapper · 27/04/2021 13:41

We were booked for Tenerife 1st Aug, changed from last year, just found out that the hotel has decided to do a refurb and won’t be open till October, just had a full refund from Jet2.

Bit relieved actually as didn’t want to pay out for testing etc and worried that whilst we were there it would change to a different colour on traffics light system.

Katie517 · 27/04/2021 13:46

Some countries are going to be given “green” status from May 17th I can imagine more will then be added for peak holiday season June-September. It’s highly likely your hols will go ahead I think OP. And if it does enjoy it! My family will be heading abroad this summer a couple of times if we get the go ahead. Rainy, overpriced UK holidays are not for us and if we are vaccinated and have taken tests I don’t see the issue.

We are booked to go to a Greek island on 29th June. It was a roll-over from last year. I have been alternately 'excited that we may be able to go and accepting that we won't' for the last 4 months or so but am now beginning to be hopeful.

We will both be double-vaccinated, Greece want us and we are fortunate that we can afford the cost of the tests on return and are happy to do our 10 day isolation.

The only thing that will stop us going is if Greece is given a red rating as I'm not prepared to spend all that money to stay at Gatwick for 10 days. I am keeping an eye on Greece on the Worldometer and I am quite confident that this wave will reach it's peak there and be on the way down before we are due to visit. Fingers crossed!

Dobbyafreeelf · 27/04/2021 14:13

Hopefully not this year. Last thing we need is to open the borders now. We need to keep our numbers low and get some normality back.

99victoria · 27/04/2021 14:23

@Dobbyafreeelf

You do realise our borders aren't closed now?

Delatron · 27/04/2021 14:25

Foreign travel will resume this summer whether some people like it or not. I’ll be on a plane if I can.

Understandably many won’t want to go or the cost of tests. The red status and potential hotel quarantine is the only thing that worries me. I’ll see how it pans out in the next few months.

Delatron · 27/04/2021 14:27

Yep. Borders are not closed. Thousands arriving every week and are trusted to quarantine at home
mainly. I mean India has only just gone on the red list (with plenty of notice).

Bagelsandbrie · 27/04/2021 14:28

I’m not sure really. I think the whole India thing is going to cause a huge halt in terms of travel. I have a feeling the government is going to really cut down travelling generally in fear of new variants. But I may be wrong....!

They are to people sodding off on a jolly.

Fundays12 · 27/04/2021 14:31

If you are in Scotland it's a big maybe. We have pretty much been told stick to British holidays. I cancelled my June holiday to a British holiday park which we were initially meant to go on March 2020. Most of the facilities are going to be closed or so limited we won't get to use them. It's pointless to spending about £1k including spending money going in my view.

BunsyGirl · 27/04/2021 14:36

For me, 21 August

User1234123 · 27/04/2021 16:08

If you're happy to jump through hoops a bit, so long as you're not planning a trip to a known hotspot then June/July should be good to go.

I myself plan to do a whole bunch of "sodding off on a jolly" trips from August onwards!!

LondonWFuck · 27/04/2021 16:41

Hopefully summer time! I can't wait to "sod off on a jolly"!

Nah they'd rather let 'the bodies pile up' AND then lockdown in autumn. Worst of both worlds. No worries though. All worth it for a week or two on holiday abroad.
Alfaix · 27/04/2021 16:59

Hoping to go away 10th July, somewhere sunny, happy to pay for testing and already had 2 doses of vaccine but DS won’t have he’s 9.
We would struggle to quarantine though so need somewhere on the green list.

mrsrobin · 27/04/2021 17:26

I would love a holiday, but more so love to visit my daughter who lives abroad and who I haven't seen for nearly 2 years!
If variants are the issue, surely foreign travel won't ever be an option without umpteen tests?

21833efb · 27/04/2021 17:28

I think after June, depending on the situation in Europe. Germany and Turkey are back in lockdown until June, and France is still struggling.

21833efb · 27/04/2021 17:28

The USA might be a better bet for a holiday this year.

Miseryl · 27/04/2021 17:30

@Tealightsandd So would you ban foreign travel indefinitely?
