We are booked to go to Majorca June 22nd... Postponed by the holiday company from the same time last year.

Any hope? Hmm

(Both myself and my partner have had both vaccines and yes I would go if I was allowed to)
@Tealightsandd So would you ban foreign travel indefinitely?
Nope. I'd get the majority fully vaccinated first. Ideally with the 3rd booster jabs for the most vulnerable.

GintyMcGinty · 27/04/2021 17:36

I hope it's soon.

I managed to get to Lanzarote in November and it's kept me going.

Main hold up is going to be the need for Europe to catch up on vaccines and get things under control.

Long haul probably challenging for a while.

Op I hope you get your holiday.

BG2015 · 27/04/2021 17:46

We've had 4 holidays cancelled since last April.

Currently got Kos on the 14th August - booked in 2019! Really hope we go. £5k tied up in this holiday.

If not we're having a new sofa and refurbishing the living room!

We've finished off the whole house and garden with refunded holiday money 🤣

neveradullmoment99 · 27/04/2021 17:47

I hope it wont happen this summer.
Not really wanting imports of new variants and a rise in cases because some people want to have a jolly abroad.

thiswaythat · 27/04/2021 19:38

I'm provisionally hoping for states + Mexico beginning of June. But we will see. Whatever it is, we will book super last minute

Delatron · 27/04/2021 19:42

I think the US will be a good option. I’m hoping for Greece. Not sure about France/Spain. But it’s only April and a lot can change in a few months as we have seen before.

FizzyPink · 27/04/2021 19:44

I’m really hopeful for June. Palma booked for then and then a Greek island in August.
As long as they’re both on the green list I’m not worried about having to pay for tests but DP is self-employed and can’t quarantine. I’d pay a lot of money to be sipping a cocktail in the sun right now

PomLikeTheBattle · 27/04/2021 19:45

I hoping US in July. I can’t imagine travel will be banned with the rate of vaccinations in some countries plus low rates of infection.

Delatron · 27/04/2021 19:46

For those that don’t want to travel that’s understandable. But understand our borders will not be closed. Thousands and thousands will arrive here every day. (As they have been doing whilst it’s illegal for us to go abroad). The minute we’re allowed to I’ll be booking something up.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 27/04/2021 19:52

I bloody hope so OP! I’ll probably get slaughtered for this but I don’t get this thing on mumsnet at the moment where you’ve pretty much said you want to kill your granny if you dare to suggest you’d like to go abroad this year. Confused It’s quite normal to book and look forward to an abroad holiday - there’s a whole world outside of the UK and I’ve really had enough of people banging on about how they’re really looking forward to their rainy overpriced UK break. I want to go somewhere different 😂. And breathe. I think August is looking most likely, fingers crossed.

PomLikeTheBattle · 27/04/2021 20:00

There does seem to be some competitive martyrdom about holidaying in the U.K.

EcoCustard · 27/04/2021 20:01

Booked for June 21st here, holiday from last April. Looking to rebook for next year as it won’t be going ahead as confident the destination isn’t going to be green or amber. Also taking into consideration the testing costs and potential of isolation. Gutted tbh.
There will be limited destinations to travel to this summer and I wonder if they will wait until adults have been offered their first vaccination. However anything could change or be possible with our current government.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 27/04/2021 20:02

@Geamhradh

It's tentatively 21st June isn't it? I think it will be a bit sooner possibly. Can't bloody wait.
@Geamhradh it's tentatively 17th May.

I can't bloody wait either. I've two trips to Greece to visit family.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 27/04/2021 20:05

Oh and if they treat Greek islands as separate to the mainland this year like they did last, then I see no reason why we can't go to one of our trips. The Greek government have been prioritising smaller islands with fewer medical facilities and tourism islands.
The place we are going to in June will have about 60-70% of its population vaccinated soon so.......

Delatron · 27/04/2021 20:12

Yep. The Greek islands are looking like a good option I think.

The price of a U.K. holiday is predictably insane. So much money for most likely a rainy week. We do have the Lake District booked but I’m prepared for rain.
