How did you feel after your second az vaccine?

Did you feel better, the same or worse than after your first az vaccine?

I felt rubbish for about 48 hours after my first and am hoping that I'll get off lightly next time.

Better, not even a saw arm!

FishWithoutABike · 22/04/2021 22:33

*sore

HolmeH · 22/04/2021 22:36

Not me but my mum had hers on Tuesday & she’s totally fine. She felt a bit grim after her first but nothing major like some people report! And this time, just a headache. She went on a day trip to the coast today no problems!

TheRealMrsMorningstar · 22/04/2021 22:37

Felt awful.aftet first (worst headache ever had including slightly blurred vision, pins and needles, palpitations). Had my second dose two days ago and apart from an ache where I had the jab (much like the minor ache from flu jab) nothing at all which was a massive relief!

Macey78 · 22/04/2021 22:43

I had my second vaccine on Monday. This time I made sure I took 2 paracetamol before hand, the first 12 hours or so were fine. Had slight body aches for some reason my mainly focussed on my back, also felt tired and lethargic. Needed at early night, Tuesday, Wednesday. Still managed to go into work.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 22/04/2021 22:45

Second was much better than the first.

notagainsurely · 23/04/2021 00:06

First vaccine...high temp, very tired, horrid headache on second day and sore arm.

Second vaccine. Nothing at all Smile

Inforapenny65 · 23/04/2021 03:13

Had my second AZ jab last week...slightly sore arm but no other issues

timtam23 · 23/04/2021 07:04

First vaccine...felt terrible, had flu-like symptoms for 24 hours, couldn't get out of bed due to shivering and unsteadiness.
Second vaccine yesterday...v tired yesterday evening and slightly sore arm today but otherwise fine
I know of 3 colleagues who also felt awful after the first AZ and they have all been much better after the second, just a few aches and pains, sore arm etc

Magissa · 23/04/2021 07:29

First vaccine I felt awful with aches and pains, shivery, extreme fatigue. Lasted about 4/5 days. The needle didn't hurt a bit I didn't feel it go in but my arm ached for nearly two weeks. I had the second vaccine last Friday at 10am. Other than feeling very tired by late afternoon no other side effects. It feels great to know that for now I am as protected as I can be.

PrinceRogersNelson · 23/04/2021 07:31

I had my second yesterday and I’m afraid I feel more achy than with my first. Arm is killing me and back is aching so much. Feel like an old woman. However still eternally grateful to have had it.

CornishYarg · 23/04/2021 07:36

After the first jab I felt very achy the day after and had a sore arm for about 4 days. Had the second jab at the weekend and the only side effect was a sore arm and that only lasted two days.

FourTeaFallOut · 23/04/2021 07:49

Had my second jab yesterday afternoon. I'm a bit tired but no sore arm or anything else.

Mummymi · 23/04/2021 08:05

Had second jab on Wednesday. It hurt going in, the doctor said it went in to muscle and my arm had a couple random aches in the first hour like a bit of a shooting pain. But other than that fine.

Neolara · 24/04/2021 06:54

Great. It looks like second jab is much better than first for most people.

This is reassuring! I felt so awful after my first one, so hoping the next one is better!

PurplePumpkinDream · 27/04/2021 08:37

Nothing at all with first, hopefully won’t get symptoms second time round.

BIWI · 27/04/2021 08:39

First one - slightly sore/stiff arm for a few days
Second one - slightly sore arm, but much less so, and only for one day

Smile

Yay for vaccines!

flapjackfairy · 27/04/2021 08:39

Oh good. I have my second jab today .

Synthesiser · 27/04/2021 08:47

In this article they say the symptoms are much milder with the 2nd dose

Synthesiser · 27/04/2021 08:48

The sore arm thing is weird. I had a very sore arm with the Pneumonia jab but not at all with first AZ. Is it to do with the skill of the vaccinator?

BIWI · 27/04/2021 08:53

It's partly to do with inflammation but also a sign that the vaccine is working - it's a good thing!

Sunnyday321 · 27/04/2021 08:54

Dh and I had our 2nd last week. He didn't get any side effects with either. I felt a little off with the 1st , 2nd one fine.

Springersrock · 27/04/2021 08:56

Not me, but my SiL was so unwell with her first AZ jab that she ended up having a COVID test.

Second jab - absolutely nothing, not even a sore arm.

Synthesiser · 27/04/2021 08:57

I had a day of flu like symptoms with the first dose, although that article said

Selfishly, I had hoped that having side effects meant I had an incredibly strong immune response and there has been some evidence from previous vaccines that this would be the case

"There are examples, like pandemic flu in 2009, where stronger side effects meant a strong immune response," said Prof Pollard

But that is not the case with the Covid vaccine, everyone is getting roughly the same protection

"It's fascinating, even though the elderly had few side effects, they had exactly the same immune response."
