Has anyone had second dose of AZ?

And did you have any side effects afterwards?

I felt quite rough after the first dose, is it true that the second dose isn't as bad?

I had my second dose 2 weeks ago. First one I had a sore arm second one fine. My friend felt a bit flu like after her first AZ vaccine but was fine after her second. My mother in law who is 81 was quite unwell after her first but fine after her second apart from a little headache that went after she had paracetamol.

CornishYarg · 19/04/2021 17:04

Had my 2nd dose yesterday. I felt a bit achy and flu'ey the day after the 1st dose but no issues today other than a tender arm.

GalOopNorth · 19/04/2021 17:51

Yep get rough for 48 hours after first one, nothing after 2nd

Ilikewinter · 19/04/2021 17:52

My friends had theirs, very ill after first jab but nothing after 2nd...just a slight sore arm.

Karmatime · 19/04/2021 17:54

My parents (in their 80’s and both CEV) had theirs - AZ - on Saturday, no side effects at all. They were both a bit off for a couple of days after the first one.

Alfaix · 19/04/2021 17:56

Yes and no side effects although I wasn’t too bad with the first.
DH and my Dad were both bad with the first and nothing with the second.

minsmum · 19/04/2021 17:58

I had a bad reaction with my first, nothing at all with my second not even a sore arm

Lockdownlifting12344555 · 19/04/2021 18:00

My first I felt quite poorly, high temp shivers in the night and over tiredness for a couple of nights at least. Had my 2nd dose on Friday and nothing, a sore arm that’s all.
I’m early 30s

RoseWineTime · 19/04/2021 18:00

Hmmm 🤔 I’m in the mix and match vaccine trial and don’t know what I’ve had. I had no reaction to the first jab apart from a sore arm but felt like I had 48 hours of flu for the second jab. I suspect I had Pfizer and then AZ from what I’ve read!

Ballstothis1 · 19/04/2021 18:00

DH had his 2nd yesterday, he’s on chemo atm every 2 weeks.

This morning he went and played 18 holes of golf at 8am, came back and has been working all afternoon (still is). Not even a sore arm - 1st one he had a headache and felt a bit tired for a day.

SE13Mummy · 19/04/2021 18:01

My arm was tender for a couple of days after my first jab. After the second, my arm wasn't even slightly tender, not even for a few minutes.

CoffeeWithCheese · 19/04/2021 20:02

First one - felt like I had a hangover combined with a cold starting.

Second one - not even a sore arm.

5G reception has not improved and I still cannot turn the kettle on without using the switch.

PatchworkElmer · 19/04/2021 20:06

Thanks for starting this thread OP! I was so unwell after my first dose- fever, aches, headache, nausea and vomiting... I’m dreading the second dose, but feeling more hopeful having read the experiences on here.

PatchworkElmer · 19/04/2021 20:07

@RoseWineTime that’s very interesting! Will you be told what you had eventually?

FancySomeChips · 19/04/2021 20:07

Felt awful for over a wk with first, felt fine with second just a bit tired and a heavy arm.
Totally different experience!

Neonprint · 19/04/2021 20:08

Yeah I had mine a week on Friday. I felt prettyuch fine. A bit tired maybe but I'm on some medication that does that anyway so...

And I felt awful with the first.

RoseWineTime · 19/04/2021 20:12

@PatchworkElmer - it is very interesting! We will be told but not until next February I think. It does seem as though I don’t have typical symptoms for 2 AZ though!

Violetlavenders · 19/04/2021 21:24

I've heard from several friends that the second dose of AZ is barely noticeable in terms of side effects.

bendmeoverbackwards · 20/04/2021 13:51

This all sounds very positive, thanks all.

Oh, Im relieved reading this. I was ill for 2-3 days with first dose of AZ, but I also have a condition which I think made the side effects worse. Hopefully the 2nd wont be as bad.

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 20/04/2021 14:14

Quite a few f&f had first dose. A few had minor dose effects. Headache/feeling a bit gritty/sore arm etc but nothing much. I felt about the same as usual (underlying issues so generally feel a bit crap/aching etc), but nothing discernible from my usual range of things.

About half have had their second dose and other than a couple who can't sleep on that shoulder, nothing

I'm having mine this Saturday (I could have had it last weekend, but I wanted to get closer to the 12 weeks) I'll be glad to get it.

Hashtag1 · 20/04/2021 14:24

as above! Not at all well for2-3 days after first and basically nothing after second.

HemanOrSheRa · 20/04/2021 14:31

I felt dreadful for a good week after my first AZ vaccination - achy, headache, shivers, fatigue and really sore, almost painful arm. I had my second dose yesterday - I felt absolutely wiped out last night and my arm was a bit sore/stiff but I feel fine today.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 20/04/2021 14:34

Felt grim the day after #1, then tired for a few more days. Arm really hurt too.
I was a bit tired after #2 for 1 day, but not needing a nap tired. Arm was fine.

ladygindiva · 20/04/2021 14:36

This is very reassuring. I had my first dose of AZ Friday, felt very rough all weekend and only today, Tuesday, do I feel back to myself. Looks like I don't need to dread second dose, fingers crossed!
