Has anyone had second dose of AZ?

And did you have any side effects afterwards?

I felt quite rough after the first dose, is it true that the second dose isn't as bad?

I was so ill with the first that I have been dreading another but it seems it might be fine !
Has anyone seen any stats on the rare clotting issue with the second dose ?

AnyFucker · 20/04/2021 16:47

Ist- sore arm, felt flu like for 48 hours

2nd- arm ok, milder flu like symptoms for 24 hours

Bagelsandbrie · 20/04/2021 19:09

Watching with interest!

Pleasenomoreglitter · 20/04/2021 19:13

Same as the rest. Felt really unwell for 24 hours after the first, with very painful arm that lasted several days. Had second last week and only had a slightly achy top of arm that had gone within 24 hours.

ShowOfHands · 20/04/2021 19:15

My colleagues and I have all had the AZ. There are 14 of us aged 40 to 74. No side effects at all from the first or the second dose.

Topseyt · 20/04/2021 19:19

Mine is now booked for Saturday afternoon.

I had no reaction to my first dose back in February, so I am hopeful that I won't react to this one either.

mooshie06 · 21/04/2021 09:30

Yes had yesterday. Had an allergic reaction that presented the first time but last time I also had the all over aches, fever, fatigue etc for a week - this time absolutely nothing! I feel totally normal. I can’t take az again due to allergy but the after effects after jab 2 are zero - can’t fault it.

SirVixofVixHall · 23/04/2021 15:28

mooshie so you had an allergic reaction the second time ? Or the first time and so had a different second vaccine ?

sanityisamyth · 23/04/2021 15:30

Anecdotally the second jab is much better in terms of side effects with the AZ jab. I had it for my first jab (awaiting second jab) and just had a sore arm. I'm hoping for similar next time!

ifonly4 · 23/04/2021 15:33

I've had my second dose, just felt chilly for an hour in the afternoon. First dose, chilly again in afternoon (had vaccine early morning in both cases), but also felt sick, then had a headache/tiredness for a week.

ancientgran · 23/04/2021 15:37

Felt fine after the first (AZ) had the second one 3 hrs ago so a bit early to tell.

DinosaurDiana · 23/04/2021 15:38

Yep. No side effects with the second, unlike the first.

musicinspring1 · 23/04/2021 15:41

Sore arm for a day , that was all

Spied · 23/04/2021 15:41

1st -low-grade headache that actually lasted a couple of weeks ( before all news of clots and seeing GP if you have a headache lasting 4+days). Didn't feel unwell enough to stop me doing anything.
2nd was two weeks ago and it triggered a migraine with aura. Felt unwell for 3days.
(I rarely get migraine so I do believe it was as a result of the vax)

GinJeanie · 23/04/2021 18:20

First AZ dose, felt appalling. Second dose felt fine...

ravethegrannies · 23/04/2021 18:49

My sister felt a wee bit rough after the second dose, but soon perked up. I haven't had the second dose yet, felt a bit rough with the first one but so worth it!

ravethegrannies · 23/04/2021 18:53

There has only been one case reported according to this:

www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/mhra-astrazeneca-oxford-university-of-bristol-b931224.html

So that's good news.

tweettweettweettweet · 23/04/2021 18:55

Thanks for asking this op, I felt really quite ill after the first one. I've had covid, so wasn't expecting it. I wasn't ill with covid at all! I've been a bit apprehensive about getting the second jab. It sounds like the side effects aren't as bad :)

alexdgr8 · 23/04/2021 18:59

yes, as above.
unusually for me with a vaccine, had a bit of a reaction with first dose of AZ; headache, shivery chills, vague spaced-out feeling, later arm ache.
but with second dose hardly anything at all.
well worth it.

ancientgran · 24/04/2021 13:27

Had my second dose yesterday. I was fine after the first, felt awful last night. Had to go to bed at 9 pm as all I wanted to do was lie down in a dark room. Quickly fell asleep.

I was fine this morning when I woke up. I've been out doing the gardening, some weeding and cut all the grass, made lunch, looked after DH who is disabled.

Sparkletastic · 24/04/2021 13:29

Yeah. Sore arm first time, slightly less sore arm second time. DH on the other hand had his 1st AZ yesterday and is moping around like a wet weekend with 'aches'....

landofgiants · 24/04/2021 21:10

Thanks for starting the thread.

I've just had my 1st dose this week and have felt shocking. Was very grateful to get my invite as I consider myself to be at risk etc etc, but I feel like I've had an illness, not a vaccine. Getting better now, but I felt so bad, I nearly went for a test. Good to hear that some of you felt fine after the second. Keep posting please - I'm seriously considering not going back.

Topseyt · 25/04/2021 00:21

I've had my second dose now. No reaction so far.
