Vickles20 · 11/04/2021 22:48

Has anyone had something like this on their body? It’s on my lower back. Doesn’t hurt, doesn’t feel like a bruise.
Have rung 111 and a clinician is ringing back
Just wondering if anyone has had it?

No idea op but I would definitely get that checked out. Probably nothing but better go be sure.

boogiebogie · 11/04/2021 23:03

Yes i would get that looked at... Have 111 called? You need to be seen i think.

Onedropbeat · 11/04/2021 23:20

This is one of the symptoms of immune thrombocytopenia (itp) which is one of the rarer reported side effects and is an autoimmune reaction

It needs blood test to check your playlet levels are stable / not too low

Vickles20 · 11/04/2021 23:23

Thanks both. Yes. Waiting for emergency gp to ring. In the next two hours
Been googling. And it’s a net like blue Lacy rash It’s called Livedo.
Can be a covid rash apparently

I’d suggest A&E for urgent bloods.

Woahbodyforrrrm · 11/04/2021 23:36

I think I'd head to A&E tbh, just to err on the side of caution

Bonifacethethird · 11/04/2021 23:40

I would head to a&e also

Bonifacethethird · 11/04/2021 23:40

Very much hope it's alright but just to be safe

Vickles20 · 11/04/2021 23:41

They don’t seem too alarmed as all I have is the rash

OP posts:
Vickles20 · 11/04/2021 23:42

She said any bloods would be done through gp
I’m in hold now as she’s double checking with a colleague

Wowyouareboring · 11/04/2021 23:46

Christ - hope it turns out ok !
I would want some urgent blood tests doing and looking over by a doc before the end of tomorrow

Vickles20 · 11/04/2021 23:55

They said as it’s a small area (in the lower back) and that I’m not showing any other signs. They said to ring gp tomorrow and request a blood test/show photo etc.
They said no need to go to a&e as it’s not an emergency.

So.. will ring gp first thing tomorrow. Will let you know .
Thank you all for your helpful comments and support. Felt a bit wobbly earlier. Thank you. Will get some sleep and ring first thing. Much appreciated

I wouldn't call it a rash. Maybe it's not a typical bruise - but I'd describe it as a bruise (to 111) rather than a rash as it's to do with the blood under the skin isn't it?

Vickles20 · 12/04/2021 00:04

Yeah. I did on the phone calls. Sorry, yes I did mention a bruise. As it was that that made me ring 111 initially “A rash that looks like bruises”
They were both aware of this auto immune reaction. But just didn’t seem alarmed by it enough to send me in now. Just to ring dr tomorrow if I wanted. Which I will. I feel totally fine in myself

OP posts:
Vickles20 · 12/04/2021 00:05

Must add, they said if I anything changes or I get other symptoms. To ring back

OP posts:
INeedNewShoes · 12/04/2021 00:17

Did they see a photo of it on the phonecall?

I wouldn't be happy unless someone has actually seen this.

SageRosemary · 12/04/2021 00:18

I got my AZ vaccine on Friday, this is an extract from the information leaflet I received (Ireland): -

Very rare cases of unusual blood clots along with low levels of blood platelets have been seen in less than 1 in 100,000 people after vaccination with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

But you should still know the symptoms to look out for.

Get urgent medical help if you get any of these symptoms in the weeks after the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine:

breathlessness
pain in the chest or stomach
leg swelling
severe or worsening headache or blurred vision
persistent bleeding, under the skin where there was no previous injury
multiple small bruises, reddish or purplish spots, or blood blisters under the skin

I don't think you have to have "other" symptoms.

ittakes2 · 12/04/2021 00:22

Is this rash non-blanching? Ie if you put a clear glass on it - does it disappear a bit or does it stay the same. If it stays exactly the same under a clear glass than its blood and sorry I think you do need to go to A&E. I am guessing 111 took you through the whole blanching / non blanching rash thing but I thought I would ask just incase.

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 12/04/2021 00:25

Could you not just say you have a headache also, just to get it checked out properly?

SageRosemary · 12/04/2021 09:13

How are you this morning?

UPDATE

Hi everyone.
Thanks for all your hand holding last night.
So.
Rang gp. Emailed photo.
His first guess is to do with hot water bottles!!
So my back went 10 weeks ago. And I used a hot water bottle on my lower back, a lot for weeks. However. Stopped using it 3 weeks ago though?
(I only noticed the bruising last night after having sex with my husband (lol) he noticed it. We haven’t had sex for a few weeks as I’ve been feeling so meh after the vacinne!) so no idea how long the bruising has been there.

He listened to my concerns about auto immune/platelet count and how long it might have been there. And the other low level symptoms I’ve been having and he said I could have a blood test later today. Huzzah!

I will let you all know on here if they come back with anything.

I feel so much better knowing it could be something non vacinne related. But I’m so glad to have the blood test just to double check we’re not missing anything.

Thanks everyone again Daffodil

Best of luck, hope everything is clear

Wowyouareboring · 12/04/2021 10:58

Hope your bloods are all fine :)

HolmeH · 12/04/2021 21:04

Ohh ive had this happen with a hot water bottle! I’m someone who is always freezing & for a period of a couple months one winter, I’d have a really hot water bottle between my legs. One day I noticed marks just like yours & freaked out. GP was quick to reassure me it was from the heat! It took another 4-6 weeks to disappear 🙈 but it did go & now I’m careful to move the position of my bottle & slightly less hot!

It’s this:

UPDATE
Bloods perfect!!!
So all is well and confirms hot water bottle is the culprit!! Haha!
Thanks again all of you who replied! All’s well that ends well!
