I've been horrified this year to see how 1984 is becoming true, step by step. Orwell foresaw the mass surveillance (telescreens, cctv everywhere, facial recognition cameras), cancel culture where you are afraid to say what you really think - his thoughtcrime has basically become our hate crime. We are seeing our freedoms and rights eroded, and it's been intensified by the lockdown restrictions.

The English version is so much better. This one is like explaining a joke because nobody got the punchline. I love how the English one uses all the clues to reach the conclusion on the facts. This is basically the evil man telling them everything they have planned. So dumbed down!

It's the age old problem of foreign shows/films being "Hollywoodnised", they seem to treat their audience as incapable of picking up nuance, so everything has to be so obvious!
